In pursuit of Boeing's research and business interests, the successful candidate will: Work on world class, next generation disruptive technologies across the enterprise and at business partners and teammate facilities to develop, document, analyze, and test operational, functional, and environmental requirements of non-recurring development research systems. Analyze customer and system requirements to develop basic architectural approaches for industrial control systems, instrumentation, process control and automation. Provide high impact and innovative solutions to complex technical problems arising from the operation of a facility employing industrial programable logic controllers (PLCs) Maintain, troubleshoot and identify lab system improvements, thru the development of detailed designs consistent with existing system requirements and specifications. In pursuit of Boeing's research and business interests, the successful candidate will:

  • Work on world class, next generation disruptive technologies across the enterprise and at business partners and teammate facilities to develop, document, analyze, and test operational, functional, and environmental requirements of non-recurring development research systems.

  • Analyze customer and system requirements to develop basic architectural approaches for industrial control systems, instrumentation, process control and automation.

  • Provide high impact and innovative solutions to complex technical problems arising from the operation of a facility employing industrial programable logic controllers (PLCs)

  • Maintain, troubleshoot and identify lab system improvements, thru the development of detailed designs consistent with existing system requirements and specifications.

  • Provide critical support and independent review of the work performed by teammates.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain industrial instrumentation and control equipment in an refrigeration system laboratory

  • Support lab operations teams, including identifying and developing new instrumentation schema to improve safety and efficiency.

  • Perform lab start-up and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control equipment

  • Partner with researchers and technology experts in understanding technology development current state and future goals in order to inform test efforts

  • Integrate technologies under development with larger system operations and determine impacts to interfaces, integration techniques, manufacturability and integrated system testing.

  • Support modeling and analysis reviews and lab demonstrations.

  • Work on world class, next generation disruptive technologies across the Boeing enterprise and at business partners and teammate facilities to develop, document, analyze, and test operational, functional, and environmental requirements of non-recurring development research systems

  • Work both independently and as part of a dynamic team environment alongside world-class research scientists and engineers 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret / SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

  • Experience in new technology or product/capability development

  • 4+ years of experience in troubleshooting PLC control systems and process instrumentation

  • Effectively communicate with technical and non-technical personnel at all organization levels including suppliers and customers

  • 4+ years of experience with design and implementing industrial electrical control panel layouts and electrical schematics in AutoCAD Electrical, compliant with industry standards

  • Education/experience in 1 or more of the following AutoCAD Electrical, Safety Instrumented Systems - Functional Safety Engineer Certification, National Electrical Code (NEC), UL508A, ISA standards, and IEC
