Job Description

Job Description

Global Manufacturing Electrical & SDV is looking for innovators who thrive in tough challenges and are passionate about tackling meaningful work that will shape the future of the automotive industry. This isn’t a role for those looking for an easy path—it’s for those who embrace change, push through obstacles, and take ownership of complex problems. While there will be long days and moments that test your resilience, you’ll find purpose in your work, flexibility to prioritize your family, and the support of a people-first culture. If you’re ready to grow, thrive, and make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.

WHY: The purpose of this role is to reduce the vehicle yard holds, ensure product quality, and breakpoint the latest vehicle software packages ECUs at GMNA plants.

WHAT: As a deployment lead, you will reflash different ECUs at GM manufacturing sites using internal hardware and software productionized solutions.

HOW: Supporting the manufacturing plants to make it happen for our customers.

Work Arrangement - Onsite

The successful candidate is expected to report to the GMNA plants, warehouses, and the Warren Tech Center on a full-time basis. This role requires 75% or greater domestic and international travel.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):

  • ECU reprogramming at different GM manufacturing sites.
  • Setup a reflash environment at GM manufacturing site and lead the team of contractors to reflash ECUs
  • Work with manufacturing, engineering and suppliers to understand current reflash process.
  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Foster a forward-thinking work culture that embraces change and navigates future organizational and industry challenges.
  • Build and nurture strategic relationships across various functions including software, manufacturing, and program management to synergize efforts towards future innovations.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Foundational understanding of vehicle electrical systems, ECUs, or embedded systems.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet) or coursework/lab exposure.
  • Familiarity with vehicle diagnostic or reprogramming tools (e.g., NeoVI, vSPY, DPS, or similar)
  • Understanding of manufacturing or end-of-line (EOL) processes, including basic testing or validation concepts.
  • Ability to follow and execute standardized technical procedures in a production or field environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability with aptitude to troubleshoot hardware/software issues with guidance.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to document issues and support training or deployment activities.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, hands-on environments (plant, yard, warehouse).
  • Willingness to travel extensively (75%+) and work off-shifts, weekends, and extended hours when required.

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • hands-on experience in automotive, manufacturing, or test environments.
  • Exposure to ECU flashing, diagnostics, or vehicle software tools (NeoVI, vSPY, DPS, etc.).
  • Experience working in a vehicle assembly plant, lab, or technical field support role.
  • Basic scripting or tooling familiarity (e.g., Python, logging tools, automation scripts).
  • Experience supporting technical deployments, launches, or field operations.
  • Familiarity with standard work, work instructions, or technical documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience/training).
