What We're Looking For When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience: Bachelor's degree or diploma in electrical engineering. Experience in the Pulp & Paper Industry is required. Minimum of 10 years' experience in industrial automation engineering, preferably in consulting. Written and Verbal Communication Skills Write effective letters, reports, and responses to regulatory agencies with associated documentation and fill out forms. The incumbent may represent the City to external organizations, task forces, and committees as appropriate. The incumbent receives guidance by senior engineers in addressing customer requirements that involve negotiating skills and diplomacy. Ability to work effectively with elected officials, charter officers, department heads, and representatives of other agencies, other city employees, and the general public. Supervision / Team Leadership / Project Direction Provide guidance, assistance and/or interpretation to others. May provide limited supervision or coordination of work of one or more subordinate engineers, engineering technicians, and other support personnel who assist in the specific discipline. Manage a project of limited scope or assist a more senior engineer in a larger project. Receive oversight on assignments by a more senior engineer, but more in the form of concept review as opposed to task delineation and calculation checking. Engineering Data Collection and Economic & Statistical Analysis Apply knowledge of engineering economic analysis, statistics and organizing and data collection methods. Compare alternatives using appropriate economic analysis. Make engineering recommendations based on economic analysis. Assist in collecting engineering data. Analyze and present data. Direct the data gathering tasks of Engineers / Utility Designers 1 and 2. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess certain physical abilities and be able to withstand work related environmental conditions. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS May work at heights of over 100 feet on open grating or from aerial devices required. Work may require physical strength and agility sufficient to safely perform all essential functions. Work may require use of personal protection equipment including hearing protection, eye protection, foot protection, hand protection, and head protection. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work may require performance of tasks outdoors under varying climatic conditions. Work may require exposure to hazardous conditions and noxious chemicals. We are currently seeking a Manager - Electrical & Controls to lead a small team of automation engineering professionals. This key position requires a combination of skills including business development, project management, and technical leadership.

This position is located in the Litte Rock, AR Metropolitan Area.

What You Will Be Doing

Here's an overview of your responsibilities and how you can leverage your expertise:

  • Provide project management, leadership, and technical guidance to a team of industrial automation engineers and project stakeholders.
  • Assign, coordinate, and review the technical work of project teams.
  • Oversee project coordination to ensure accurate billing, time accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Consult and negotiate with customers to prepare specifications, explain proposals, and present engineering reports.
  • Lead large capital project development, including feasibility studies, project scope definitions, preliminary engineering designs, and capital cost estimates.
  • Assist with the assessment, evaluation, establishment, and development of opportunities in the assigned industry(ies)/business areas.
  • Support the growth of the business by assisting with the execution of sales growth strategies.
  • Build, lead and develop a team of professionals; including recruitment and selection, training, and performance management.
  • Network with industry groups and professional organizations to establish the presence and reputation of the Company.
  • Ensure that the activities adhere to the quality standards established by the Company.

What We're Looking For

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in electrical engineering.
  • Experience in the Pulp & Paper Industry is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in industrial automation engineering, preferably in consulting.
  • Previous leadership or management experience desired.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and empower team members to achieve their full potential.
  • Registered, or eligible for immediate registration as a PE an asset.
  • Site audit, commissioning, construction, and start-up experience.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage and deliver electrical/controls projects.
  • Experience in pulp & paper, mining, and/or chemical industries.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills (English).
  • Practical knowledge of North American standards.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites.

Other valued, but non-essential skills, abilities, and experience include:

  • Consulting engineering experience; preferably in industrial engineering.
