Engineering Manager, Web Infrastructure-logo
Engineering Manager, Web Infrastructure
NotionSan Francisco, CA
About Us: We're on a mission to make it possible for every person, team, and company to be able to tailor their software to solve any problem and take on any challenge. Computers may be our most powerful tools, but most of us can't build or modify the software we use on them every day. At Notion, we want to change this with focus, design, and craft. We've been working on this together since 2016, and have customers like OpenAI, Toyota, Figma, Ramp, and thousands more on this journey with us. Today, we're growing fast and excited for new teammates to join us who are the best at what they do. We're passionate about building a company as diverse and creative as the millions of people Notion reaches worldwide. Notion is an in person company, and currently requires its employees to come to the office for two Anchor Days (Mondays & Thursdays) and requests that employees spend the majority of their week in the office (including a third day). About The Role: The Web Infra team's mission is to empower engineers to build performant, scalable, and accessible product experiences. We build and improve the build infrastructure, component library, and state management system that power all features of Notion's web and desktop client. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for evolving the infrastructure strategy and technical architecture, supporting a team of senior engineers and managers to drive execution, and hiring and developing talent on the team. Additionally, as an engineering leader, you will help elevate Notion's entire engineering organization and culture. What You'll Do: You'll build and manage a diverse and inclusive team of engineers and managers working on core parts of Notion's architecture. You'll create a healthy environment in your team that embodies Notion's values. You'll recruit, coach, and develop engineers. You'll ensure engineers are regularly receiving feedback and making progress on personal and professional goals. You'll facilitate planning-the prioritization, sequencing, and staffing of work-for your team. You'll be responsible for maintaining a high-quality bar for everything your team ships. You'll own execution in your team to develop a steady cadence of delivering value to your users. You'll work with others to shape how Notion's engineering organization works. You'll help develop our technical practices, recruiting and onboarding strategy, planning and prioritization process, and more. What We're Looking For: You have managed senior engineering teams and managers, and have experience in scaling teams. You have built, or are committed to building, diverse and inclusive teams. You create team environments that are at once collaborative, empowering, supportive, and challenging-ones where engineers do their best work. You have a sufficiently deep background in product and technology that you can ask the right questions of your team, balance product, tech, and people concerns, and make hard tradeoffs. You think rigorously. You're prepared to tackle the toughest technical problems, understand trade-offs, and enable teams to make decisions and progress. You have a high tolerance for ambiguity and change, especially around organizational structure and the boundaries of your role. You enjoy jumping into whatever areas need attention and learning as-you-go. You value empathetic and direct communication, particularly when giving and receiving feedback. Bonus Points: You have managed engineering teams at startups before, particularly during periods of rapid growth and organizational change. You have experience rolling out engineering and management practices and processes-e.g., code review, performance reviews, and levels and ladders-where they didn't exist before. You've managed teams that are across multiple offices. You've heard of computing pioneers like Ada Lovelace, Douglas Engelbart, Alan Kay, and others-and understand why we're big fans of their work. We hire talented and passionate people from a variety of backgrounds because we want our global employee base to represent the wide diversity of our customers. If you're excited about a role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every bullet point listed in the job description, we still encourage you to apply. If you're a builder at heart, share our company values, and enthusiastic about making software toolmaking ubiquitous, we want to hear from you. Notion is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate in hiring or any employment decision based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other applicable legally protected characteristic. Notion considers qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state and local law. Notion is also committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans in our job application procedures. If you need assistance or an accommodation made due to a disability, please let your recruiter know. Notion is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role's scope and complexity, and the candidate's experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in San Francisco or New York, the estimated base salary range for this role is $240,000 - $305,000 per year. #LI-Onsite By clicking "Submit Application", I understand and agree that Notion and its affiliates and subsidiaries will collect and process my information in accordance with Notion's Global Recruiting Privacy Policy.

Electrical Engineering Intern (Fall 2025)-logo
Electrical Engineering Intern (Fall 2025)
ZipLineSouth San Francisco, CA
About Zipline Zipline is on a mission to transform the way goods move. Our aim is to solve the world's most urgent and complex access challenges by building the first instant logistics system that serves all humans equally. Leveraging expertise in robotics and autonomy, Zipline designs, builds, and operates a fleet of cutting edge, autonomous delivery drones. We serve tens of millions of people around the world. Joining Zipline's Emerging Talent program as an intern is an opportunity to contribute to our promise of building a system that provides equitable access to critical healthcare supplies for millions of people. We believe that internships are more than just opportunities to learn by watching or doing low level tasks. We expect our interns to take on meaningful work that actively contributes to moving Zipline's mission forward, while learning real-world skills that will serve them in their careers for the long term. Join us, and build the future of logistics with the best humans around! About the Avionics Team At Zipline, the Avionics Team is at the heart of our autonomous flight systems, responsible for designing, building, and testing the electronic and software systems that enable our drones to navigate, communicate, and deliver critical supplies with precision and reliability. From custom circuit board design, EOL tester development, and sensor integration to real-time flight control and communication systems, the team ensures our platforms operate safely and effectively in some of the most challenging environments in the world. The team works cross-functionally with mechanical, test, embedded, software, and systems engineering teams to create scalable, high-performance avionics that power life-saving missions every day. About the Role Leading the way in drone delivery often means exceeding the capabilities of what's available off the shelf, and as a result we are engineering the majority of our system in-house. Doubling down on the reliability of our systems is critical to delivering to our next billion customers--people whose lives will be meaningfully affected by smarter, more equitable access. We are deliberately expanding our electrical design and test capabilities and adding to the ranks of our experienced team to achieve these goals. We need dedicated engineers to burn down risk and improve reliability in our system like their life depends on it, because others' lives do. Electronics are where software meets the physical world, and so our electrical engineering team has a wide array of engineering skills and works with a variety of different teams. We need people who are comfortable working in different domains, thrive when working on a problem as part of a small group, and are able to communicate technical concepts clearly to a wide variety of stakeholders--software and mechanical engineers, hardware test and manufacturing, and operations and field support, to name a few. Our small team can get a lot done because our team members are strong individual contributors with a good grasp of electrical engineering fundamentals and the ability to define requirements for their systems, rapidly develop creative and simple solutions, and prove with testing that their work meets the rigors and edge-cases of real-world deployment. What You'll Do You'll have your own projects but we haven't been saving an "intern project" - you'll be a full member of our team, and like with our other engineers, we'll work with you to find projects that align with your goals and interests and the team's and company's priorities. Examples of previous projects for interns include: Prototyping new versions of our battery charging electronics to meet harsher environmental requirements in new countries where we're launching our service Architecting ground support electronics to assist the air vehicle with take-off and landing Developing and deploying test equipment such as EOL's for design validation and production Supporting design validation campaigns to ensure that our avionics products meet design and reliability requirements Root cause investigation for our products from test, flight, or field issues. What You'll Bring The part of your application we're most interested in is "prior engineering experience," somewhat broadly defined. We would like the following three things to be true: Must have at least completed the second year of your Undergraduate studies. Masters and PhD students are also eligible. You've designed and tested a custom circuit board (it doesn't need to have worked - we'd love to hear about it!) You've worked on a project in or out of school that moved under its own power (plane, car, boat, quadcopter, rocket, balloon, rocket on a balloon, submarine, rover, etc. - we're not picky) You've collaborated on the above two things as part of a group - school club, competition team, as part of a job/internship, or just with friends In your application, we'd love to see either a sample of work you're proud of or a short note about your prior experience and how it relates to the three points above. What Else You Need to Know Our internships are full-time positions, in-person at our South San Francisco office. We will host our Fall 2025 interns from September to December. The starting cash range for this role is $38 - 42 / hour. Please note that this is a target, starting cash range for a candidate who meets the minimum qualifications for this role. The final cash pay for this role will depend on a variety of factors, including a specific candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and working location. The total compensation package for this role may also include: overtime pay; commuter benefits; paid sick time; and more. Zipline is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws or our own sensibilities. We value diversity at Zipline and welcome applications from those who are traditionally underrepresented in tech. If you like the sound of this position but are not sure if you are the perfect fit, please apply! Zipline is also committed to providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities. Please let your point of contact at Zipline know if you require any accommodations throughout your interview process.
