This role will engage Business Unit (BU) Leadership, SMEs, IT, and external parties to identify and progress opportunities to improve and innovate engineering data quality, dataflow, data management processes, data standards, and technology. We are responsible for the efficient and optimized ingestion of critical engineering data to the Oxy data ecosystem and the integration of that data for downstream usage at the right time using appropriate methodologies. This functional SME is in a key position in ensuring that technical data for the management of Oxy assets is created and curated throughout the lifecycle of those assets, and that governance frameworks and best practices are in place to support long-term sustainment. Core area of engagement will focus initially on the development of SmartPlant Instrumentation/SmartPlant P&ID. Specific responsibilities include the following: Design of SPI data model to facilitate in-house ingestion and ownership of data from external parties as appropriate to the Oxy ecosystem. Develop data policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines (PSPGs) for Oxy usage of SPI as required. Liaise with IT to build SPI environment that complies with IT policy. Provide strategy for application and utilization of SPI for existing and future asset management and support activities. Responsible for day-to-day tasks to ensure data strategies and quality standards are executed, maintained, and readily available in SPI system. Function as a dedicated Oxy SmartPlant resource with the goal of enhancing Oxy data hand-offs from legacy systems, including but not limited to SAP, McLaren (technical document management system), Human Machine Interface (HMI), and OSI-PI (automated data historian). Capture and application of key data elements available during all phases of Engineering Design, Procurement, and Construction projects. Function as SPI business super-user to ensure that users can produce product deliverables and to ensure data quality integrity across SPI and associated downstream systems. Coordinate with IT to ensure that system backups, initialization requirements, and user access needs are met. Develop SQL scripting to facilitate duplication, loading, and delivery of data from project/MOC work to as-built state. Troubleshoot database and user errors while working with IT to solve application issues. Assist design and engineering staff with day-to-day completion of project deliverables to meet project milestones including data consistency analysis and audits. Assist operations business users with end-user consumption of SPI data. Migrate legacy data into SPI from SAP and other in-house software. Key participant in global steering committees for continued improvements in SPI data, deployments to users, and database/hardware optimizations. Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related science preferred. 10+ years experience in oil and gas in lieu of preferred degree. Technical Experience: Sr level SmartPlant system experience with a minimum 10 years of applied knowledge. This role will engage Business Unit (BU) Leadership, SMEs, IT, and external parties to identify and progress opportunities to improve and innovate engineering data quality, dataflow, data management processes, data standards, and technology. We are responsible for the efficient and optimized ingestion of critical engineering data to the Oxy data ecosystem and the integration of that data for downstream usage at the right time using appropriate methodologies. This functional SME is in a key position in ensuring that technical data for the management of Oxy assets is created and curated throughout the lifecycle of those assets, and that governance frameworks and best practices are in place to support long-term sustainment. Core area of engagement will focus initially on the development of SmartPlant Instrumentation/SmartPlant P&ID.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Design of SPI data model to facilitate in-house ingestion and ownership of data from external parties as appropriate to the Oxy ecosystem.
  • Develop data policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines (PSPGs) for Oxy usage of SPI as required.
  • Liaise with IT to build SPI environment that complies with IT policy.
  • Provide strategy for application and utilization of SPI for existing and future asset management and support activities.
  • Responsible for day-to-day tasks to ensure data strategies and quality standards are executed, maintained, and readily available in SPI system.
  • Function as a dedicated Oxy SmartPlant resource with the goal of enhancing Oxy data hand-offs from legacy systems, including but not limited to SAP, McLaren (technical document management system), Human Machine Interface (HMI), and OSI-PI (automated data historian).
  • Capture and application of key data elements available during all phases of Engineering Design, Procurement, and Construction projects.
  • Function as SPI business super-user to ensure that users can produce product deliverables and to ensure data quality integrity across SPI and associated downstream systems.
  • Coordinate with IT to ensure that system backups, initialization requirements, and user access needs are met.
  • Develop SQL scripting to facilitate duplication, loading, and delivery of data from project/MOC work to as-built state.
  • Troubleshoot database and user errors while working with IT to solve application issues.
  • Assist design and engineering staff with day-to-day completion of project deliverables to meet project milestones including data consistency analysis and audits.
  • Assist operations business users with end-user consumption of SPI data.
  • Migrate legacy data into SPI from SAP and other in-house software.
  • Key participant in global steering committees for continued improvements in SPI data, deployments to users, and database/hardware optimizations.

Education:

Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related science preferred. 10+ years experience in oil and gas in lieu of preferred degree.

Technical Experience:

Sr level SmartPlant system experience with a minimum 10 years of applied knowledge.
