The successful candidate will: Provide professional design services for transportation improvement projects for NCDOT and municipalities. Desire to support both alternative delivery and traditional bid-build Design roadway geometry and details, drainage, traffic control, pavement markings, and signing for transportation infrastructure. Interact with client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and local/regional leadership teams. Design using MicroStation, Corridor Modeling, Open Roads Designer (ORD) Coordinate design development and assisting with technical direction to other design staff Coordinate with the design team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports Establish working relationships and interface with client technical staff and project managers Mentor supporting Civil design staff The ideal candidate is an individual who is a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and possesses a vast understanding of roadway design principles. The candidate will apply roadway engineering principles to provide design for road and bridge projects and will work with junior staff members and other disciplines for successful project production and execution. This is an excellent role for a creative, self-motivated, and detail-oriented professional that enjoys being a part of a team environment and would be a great opportunity for a design engineer to grow technical skills while also leading a multidisciplinary design team. Prior experience leading design efforts would be a plus, but this could also be a next step for someone who has been major design support and is ready to take on the additional responsibility of leading the engineering. Responsibilities include: A minimum of 15 years of experience in all technical aspects of roadway design including highway, reduced conflict intersections, roundabouts, intersections, widenings, and bike/ped design. The Senior Scientist, Capsid Engineering is a key member of the Discovery Research Team and participates in the development of Spark’s gene delivery platforms. You will be critical for the development of novel AAV capsids with improved properties to enable the next generation of safer and more effective gene therapies. Job Description

STV has an immediate need in either our Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC offices for a Senior Civil/Roadway Engineering Technician in our Transportation division. The successful candidate will:

  • Provide professional design services for transportation improvement projects for NCDOT and municipalities.
  • Desire to support both alternative delivery and traditional bid-build
  • Design roadway geometry and details, drainage, traffic control, pavement markings, and signing for transportation infrastructure.
  • Interact with client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and local/regional leadership teams.
  • Design using MicroStation, Corridor Modeling, Open Roads Designer (ORD)
  • Coordinate design development and assisting with technical direction to other design staff
  • Coordinate with the design team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget
  • Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
  • Establish working relationships and interface with client technical staff and project managers
  • Mentor supporting Civil design staff


The ideal candidate is an individual who is a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and possesses a vast understanding of roadway design principles.

The candidate will apply roadway engineering principles to provide design for road and bridge projects and will work with junior staff members and other disciplines for successful project production and execution. This is an excellent role for a creative, self-motivated, and detail-oriented professional that enjoys being a part of a team environment and would be a great opportunity for a design engineer to grow technical skills while also leading a multidisciplinary design team. Prior experience leading design efforts would be a plus, but this could also be a next step for someone who has been major design support and is ready to take on the additional responsibility of leading the engineering.

Responsibilities include:

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in all technical aspects of roadway design including highway, reduced conflict intersections, roundabouts, intersections, widenings, and bike/ped design.
  • Experience with using MicroStation and Geopak are required and familiarity with Open Roads Designer is a plus
  • Familiarity with the latest edition of AASHTO Green Book and MUTCD
  • Experience with NCDOT and other NC municipalities is a plus
  • Strong inter-personal skills for client and other engineering discipline interaction

Required Skills:

  • The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a master’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • NC PE license is preferred 

Compensation Range:

$61,760.55 - $82,347.40
