Job Description: HATC Maintenance & Engineering Manager Huntsman is seeking a HATC Maintenance & Engineering Manager supporting the Corporate Division located in HATC, The Woodlands, TX. This position will report to the VP R&D/Woodlands Operations. Job Scope Responsible for the management and oversight of all Maintenance & Engineering activities and personnel at the Huntsman Advanced Technology Center (HATC)…a 200,000 sq.ft. chemical R&D laboratory. The ideal candidate for this position will have a degree in engineering and at least years of relevant experience. The candidate will plan, design, and direct civil engineering projects. Key Responsibilities: Prepares and monitors project budgets.  Has overall responsibility for the profitability of his/her projects. Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects. Serves as a project manager or senior project engineer and as a designated client contact. Supervises and monitors client relationship strategies. Coordinates and approves pricing, estimating, scoping and marketing strategies for proposed projects. Develops engineering agreements for his/her projects within the department. Prepares forecast of workload for assigned staff. Develops probable construction cost estimates for his/her projects within the department. Attends client meetings - days or nights. Responsible for control of work-in-process, ensures accurate client billings, and monitors outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts on his/her projects. Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project. Directs and supervises other engineer's activities - may perform duties of a supervisor Handles contract administration. Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for project. Instructs draftspersons / technicians to reduce designs to working drawings. Visits construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents. Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents. Responsible for project manager and/or project team quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual. HATC Maintenance & Engineering Manager

Huntsman is seeking a HATC Maintenance & Engineering Manager supporting the Corporate Division located in HATC, The Woodlands, TX. This position will report to the VP R&D/Woodlands Operations.

Job Scope

Responsible for the management and oversight of all Maintenance & Engineering activities and personnel at the Huntsman Advanced Technology Center (HATC)…a 200,000 sq.ft. chemical R&D laboratory. The job scope includes all site infrastructure maintenance and projects as well as support to laboratory equipment engineering and maintenance when applicable.

In summary, as the HATC Maintenance/Engineering Manager, you will, with minimal supervision and significant decision-making, be expected to:

  • Oversee all preventive maintenance and repair activities for all HATC infrastructure and facilities
  • Responsible for direct supervision of all HATC maintenance personnel
  • Oversee all facility contracts and contractors performing maintenance work at HATC
  • Oversee all site managed engineering design and project management activities
  • Develop, track, and control departmental expense and capital budgets

Other general responsibilities:

  • Assists other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals.
  • Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
  • Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Direct experience managing maintenance and engineering activities and personnel for a chemical manufacturing, R&D laboratory, or hospital/healthcare facility.
  • Additional direct experience (15+ years) may be considered in place of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus.

Skills and knowledge

  • Experience with SAP Plant Maintenance software highly desirable
  • Experience developing and managing department budgets highly desirable
  • Experience managing 3rd party maintenance contractors highly desirable
  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs
  • Communicates tactfully and effectively both verbally and in writing and maintains effective work relations with those encountered during the course of employment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to new instructions and/or dynamic organizational priorities is critical for job success.
