Job Title- Structural Engineering Department Manager Location- Phoenix, AZ Job Type- Hybrid Requisition ID - 11113 Stanley Consultants is currently seeking a Structural Department Manager for our Phoenix, AZ office. What You Will Be Doing: Build, develop, mentor, and grow an experienced and passionate team to grow the firm's Arizona transportation structural market. Lead, direct, and mentor transportation structural members on projects, including plan development for a comprehensive range of transportation structural design projects. Determine staffing requirements and make recommendations for hiring team members. Work with leadership to develop and implement strategic growth strategies. Develop marketing strategies and proposal writing for transportation structural project opportunities. Participate in project scoping, fee estimating, proposal preparation, interviews, and negotiations. Provide department status, performance, and forecasts to the Group Manager on a regular basis. Coordinate project priorities and staff member assignments to meet project deadlines and client needs. Participate in goal setting and goal achievement process for direct reports. Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and designs for projects. Perform QA/QC activities on office projects. Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control. Review department projects to collaborate on work procedures/sequences and develop schedules, budgets, staffing, and progress billings. Oversee and/or manage department projects. Meet with client management as necessary during the term of a project to resolve issues and to obtain approvals at the project's completion. Required Qualifications: Must have MS in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering from accredited institution. At least 15 years of relevant professional experience. At least 5 years of experience at the Project Manager level. Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Arizona. Professional Structural Engineer license in Arizona is a plus. Must have recent relevant structural design experience for Arizona DOT, Maricopa County DOT, and other Local Government projects. Requires considerable experience preparing preliminary and final bridge design contract documents for roadway, railway, and waterway crossing bridges. Knowledge AASHTO Load-And-Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Bridge Design Specifications, Standard Specifications for Structural Supports for Highway Signs, Luminaires and Traffic Signals, and Manual for Bridge Evaluation. Familiarity with AREMA design codes is a plus. Experience with ADOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Bridge Design Guidelines, Geotechnical Project Development Manual, Bridge Load Rating Guidelines, and CADD Standards. Proficiency in structural engineering software, including CSiBridge, and STAAD.Pro for 3D modeling and analysis; OpenBridge Designer and MDX Software for steel and prestressed concrete girder design; and OpenBridge Designer and LPILE for substructure design. Proficient in Mathcad and Excel for hand calculations and verification. Experienced in MicroStation and OpenBridge Modeler for CAD production and plan preparation. Proven leadership, communication, mentoring, and client liaison skills. Demonstrated capabilities and success in managing medium to large-disciplined projects, multi-office projects, and/or multiple projects. Experience preparing technical approaches, work plans (write ups) to support RFQ, and technical proposals. Business acumen including negotiation skills. Collaborate with hardware, robotics, and mobile app teams to deliver end-to-end product experiences. Write, execute, and automate tests to ensure reliability, safety, and consumer-ready quality. Debug and optimize performance (memory, power, real-time behavior) for consumer-scale manufacturing. Document designs and contribute to continuous improvement of SharkNinja's embedded software platform. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Strong experience within embedded software development in C/C++, real-time systems, and hardware/software integration. Experience with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, BLE, WiFi). A passion for creating consumer-friendly, connected products. Curiosity, adaptability, and a drive to be part of an A-Player engineering team. Preferred Experience with IoT ecosystems, cloud-to-device connectivity, or app integration. Python or scripting skills for automation and testing. Prior work in robotics or consumer electronics.

Stanley Consultants is currently seeking a Structural Department Manager for our Phoenix, AZ office.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Build, develop, mentor, and grow an experienced and passionate team to grow the firm's Arizona transportation structural market.
  • Lead, direct, and mentor transportation structural members on projects, including plan development for a comprehensive range of transportation structural design projects.
  • Determine staffing requirements and make recommendations for hiring team members.
  • Work with leadership to develop and implement strategic growth strategies.
  • Develop marketing strategies and proposal writing for transportation structural project opportunities.
  • Participate in project scoping, fee estimating, proposal preparation, interviews, and negotiations.
  • Provide department status, performance, and forecasts to the Group Manager on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate project priorities and staff member assignments to meet project deadlines and client needs.
  • Participate in goal setting and goal achievement process for direct reports.
  • Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and designs for projects.
  • Perform QA/QC activities on office projects.
  • Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control.
  • Review department projects to collaborate on work procedures/sequences and develop schedules, budgets, staffing, and progress billings.
  • Oversee and/or manage department projects.
  • Meet with client management as necessary during the term of a project to resolve issues and to obtain approvals at the project's completion.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have MS in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering from accredited institution.
  • At least 15 years of relevant professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience at the Project Manager level.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Arizona. Professional Structural Engineer license in Arizona is a plus.
  • Must have recent relevant structural design experience for Arizona DOT, Maricopa County DOT, and other Local Government projects.
  • Requires considerable experience preparing preliminary and final bridge design contract documents for roadway, railway, and waterway crossing bridges.
  • Knowledge AASHTO Load-And-Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Bridge Design Specifications, Standard Specifications for Structural Supports for Highway Signs, Luminaires and Traffic Signals, and Manual for Bridge Evaluation. Familiarity with AREMA design codes is a plus.
  • Experience with ADOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Bridge Design Guidelines, Geotechnical Project Development Manual, Bridge Load Rating Guidelines, and CADD Standards.
  • Proficiency in structural engineering software, including CSiBridge, and STAAD.Pro for 3D modeling and analysis; OpenBridge Designer and MDX Software for steel and prestressed concrete girder design; and OpenBridge Designer and LPILE for substructure design. Proficient in Mathcad and Excel for hand calculations and verification. Experienced in MicroStation and OpenBridge Modeler for CAD production and plan preparation.
  • Proven leadership, communication, mentoring, and client liaison skills.
  • Demonstrated capabilities and success in managing medium to large-disciplined projects, multi-office projects, and/or multiple projects.
  • Experience preparing technical approaches, work plans (write ups) to support RFQ, and technical proposals.
  • Business acumen including negotiation skills.

Stanley's Approach to Flexibility

While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
