Job Description

Support the Lamb Weston Global Engineering team with several projects related to engineering in the manufacturing industry. A skilled mentor with be assigned to the intern for the duration of the internship. This mentor will provide training and complete weekly reviews to assess progress and answer questions.

Interns will be assigned projects based on their skill set and area of interest. Project and duties that may be assigned include but are not limited to:

Process/Technical Innovation Intern:

  • Research / develop innovative technology to drive business objectives (including but not limited to: ideation, literature review, design, fabrication, testing, validation, standardization and/or report out) in one of the following areas: Foreign Material Removal, Cutting, New product technology optimization
  • Manage above workflow in allotted timeline whilst engaging technical innovation staff, lateral internal stakeholders, possible outside vendor(s) related to project(s)

Capital Projects Intern:

  • Collaborate with the plant project engineers and leadership to complete capital projects including the development of new designs, policy standards, and technical engineering automation processes
  • Assist in the design, revision, maintenance, performance analyses and cost impacts of plant drawings. (Using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)

Support/Controls Intern:

  • Assist with the technical automation and control expert to support needs of the plant with the day-to-day developments, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Interface to equipment and instrumentation including optimization and calibration, specifying, and interface programming

Support/Infrastructure Intern:

  • With a focus towards improving efficiencies of our plant equipment, this position will utilize existing tools and apply engineering principles to develop the structure, process, and plan with the goal of improving AU (Asset Utilization) for selected plant equipment
  • Work independently and engage with current Lamb Weston staff across different departments, in addition to following industry standards in the execution of assignments

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled or a recent graduate of an Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related program

  • Juniors, Seniors, or Master’s degree students preferred but also accepting recent grads

  • Minimum GPA 3.0 preferred
