How you will create an impact The Assistant VP, Data Engineering will join AIG's Data Office, responsible for the strategic direction, enhancement and support of AIG's strategic financial data applications. This position will have analysis, design and technology development and delivery accountability for mission critical financial processing initiatives across AIG. The role will partner with peers and leaders across AIG IT to manage the integration points of both upstream transactional applications and downstream consumers of financial information. The ideal candidate is committed to high quality outcomes and leading large 3rd party teams. The role is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the core aggregator of premium and loss data used by the finance area along with other systems that support the aggregator. This role will interface with technical resources, all levels of finance partners and internal and external auditors. Responsible for day-to-day leadership of AIG's strategic data program delivery. This includes working with technical resources, AIG IT, and business partners. The team is highly outsourced. The lead is responsible for leading deliverables largely supported by vendor partners. Drive design and decisions across data programs, working closely with and managing program scope and requirements. Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for AIG and AIG Stakeholders with respect to AIG's financial processing. Adhere to and set new standards in delivery approach, technology and quality. Expected to recommend innovations and improvements to delivery capabilities. Adapts, designs and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Ability to tie details of multiple projects together and provide other teams with dependencies /issues that seem to conflict or cause conflict. Identify opportunities to consolidate processes across legacy and strategic systems. Partner with business engagement teams to successfully deliver program initiatives that span multiple application and functional areas. Ensure that all Data solutions adhere to AIG standards for security. Responsible for ensuring all aspects of audit requests are met as well as the ability to handle both finance and IT inquiries across multiple financial systems. Translate business requests from Finance or other business units into technical design specifications for the delivery team. What you'll need to succeed 12+ years of experience in Data Application management with progressive leadership roles Experience in legacy mainframe systems as well as data warehousing concepts Experience in developing and operationalizing complex data engineering solutions. Experience in Property and Casualty insurance with emphasis in commercial lines. Prior experience in Finance & Actuarial disciplines is a plus. Leverages expert problem-solving skills and techniques. How you will create an impact

The Assistant VP, Data Engineering will join AIG's Data Office, responsible for the strategic direction, enhancement and support of AIG's strategic financial data applications. This position will have analysis, design and technology development and delivery accountability for mission critical financial processing initiatives across AIG. The role will partner with peers and leaders across AIG IT to manage the integration points of both upstream transactional applications and downstream consumers of financial information. The ideal candidate is committed to high quality outcomes and leading large 3rd party teams. The role is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the core aggregator of premium and loss data used by the finance area along with other systems that support the aggregator. This role will interface with technical resources, all levels of finance partners and internal and external auditors.

  • Responsible for day-to-day leadership of AIG's strategic data program delivery. This includes working with technical resources, AIG IT, and business partners.

  • The team is highly outsourced. The lead is responsible for leading deliverables largely supported by vendor partners.

  • Drive design and decisions across data programs, working closely with and managing program scope and requirements.

  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for AIG and AIG Stakeholders with respect to AIG's financial processing.

  • Adhere to and set new standards in delivery approach, technology and quality.

  • Expected to recommend innovations and improvements to delivery capabilities. Adapts, designs and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.

  • Ability to tie details of multiple projects together and provide other teams with dependencies /issues that seem to conflict or cause conflict.

  • Identify opportunities to consolidate processes across legacy and strategic systems.

  • Partner with business engagement teams to successfully deliver program initiatives that span multiple application and functional areas.

  • Ensure that all Data solutions adhere to AIG standards for security.

  • Responsible for ensuring all aspects of audit requests are met as well as the ability to handle both finance and IT inquiries across multiple financial systems.

  • Translate business requests from Finance or other business units into technical design specifications for the delivery team.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 12+ years of experience in Data Application management with progressive leadership roles

  • Experience in legacy mainframe systems as well as data warehousing concepts

  • Experience in developing and operationalizing complex data engineering solutions.

  • Experience in Property and Casualty insurance with emphasis in commercial lines. Prior experience in Finance & Actuarial disciplines is a plus.

  • Leverages expert problem-solving skills and techniques.

  • Significant experience in Application development, large data management solutions and information handling at the enterprise level, possessing deep understanding of SDLC.

  • Ability to manage multiple Vendors and large vendor teams across multiple geographies.

  • Experience working in large, complex, multinational financial data environments.

  • Ability to work under challenging program situations fulfilling tight deadlines and budget constraints.

  • Experience in providing technical expertise and project leadership by conducting industry and market research as well as make recommendations regarding current and new domain knowledge and related technologies.

  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.

  • Experience transforming teams to enable Agile development and delivery.

  • Effective communication skills and facilitation experience with business and technology stakeholders to understand use cases and business needs.

  • Ability to influence change and drive results. Must be a self-motivated driver to identify issues and resolve them quickly.

  • Insurance (ideally property and casualty) industry expertise in the data domain.

  • Business acumen and understanding of Insurance metrics and financials.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and with changing priorities.
