Role Summary: The Senior Manager defines and leads the technical strategy and developer experience of Sony Pictures Television's data management team. This role will oversee our existing and new data pipelines, mentor a team of data engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver actionable insights and data products that enable SPE's businesses to maintain a competitive edge. The senior manager will also lead complex business-facing projects, working closely with business and operational teams to enable ISA to deliver more sophisticated and impactful analytics products and tools. You will partner with data visualization and data science teams to deliver advanced data analytics, including AI and machine learning applications, to drive innovation within the business. Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership: Oversee the development and optimization of scalable data pipelines and infrastructure. Team Management: A high-performance culture in the data engineering team, emphasizing standards, automation and reusability. Team Development: Create a safe, fail-fast environment that values technical innovation and skills development within the data engineering team to embrace new and emerging technologies. Architecture: Translate complex business requirements into the design of robust ELT pipelines, data models, and operational processes. Establish tools and processes to ensure data quality and accuracy. Technical Planning: Ensure ISA's data engineering team can deliver on multiple concurrent, fast-paced project timelines. Partner with ISA leaders and PMs to size & prioritize data engineering workstreams, identify technical risks and resource gaps, and increase team velocity. Breakdown work into clear, actionable technical tasks. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Create a strong developer culture, both within data engineering and across ISA tech teams. Coach and mentor more junior team members, work across teams to reduce siloing and identify opportunities to make all teams more effective. Project Delivery: Contribute as a senior data engineer to projects on an as-needed basis, modeling standards and best practices. Delegate and mentor other team members to maximize overall team output. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or related fields; advanced degrees are a plus. Experience: 10+ years in data engineering or related technical leadership roles, preferably in media and entertainment or related industries. Technical Acumen: Proficiency in data engineering, analytics tools, and methodologies. Expert-level SQL & Python skills. Deep knowledge of cloud warehouse design, configuration, and management (Snowflake preferred) Hands-on experience with modern orchestration tools like Airflow. Familiarity with software engineering best practices (e.g. source control, code reviews, unit testing) Skilled at creating ERDs, architectural diagrams and technical specs Leadership: Proven track record of developing successful data products and leading diverse technical teams. Deep knowledge of business concepts, entities, and relationships relevant to a production & distribution studio. Ability to translate business needs into an effective technical design, even with limited information. Ability to breakdown and sequence work across multiple concurrent data engineers to achieve a larger vision. Skilled at coaching junior data engineers. Ability to provide clear, detailed, consistent feedback during code reviews and pair programming. Experience with agile project management for planning and delivering complex development projects. AI Literacy: Broad knowledge of transformational trends the data engineering industry, especially agentic AI tools and processes. Preferred Qualifications: Industry Experience: Experience in the media and entertainment industry is a plus, but candidates from other industries are welcome to apply. Passion for Entertainment: A genuine interest in film and television is appreciated but not mandatory. Strategic Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Role Summary:

The Senior Manager defines and leads the technical strategy and developer experience of Sony Pictures Television's data management team. This role will oversee our existing and new data pipelines, mentor a team of data engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver actionable insights and data products that enable SPE's businesses to maintain a competitive edge. The senior manager will also lead complex business-facing projects, working closely with business and operational teams to enable ISA to deliver more sophisticated and impactful analytics products and tools. You will partner with data visualization and data science teams to deliver advanced data analytics, including AI and machine learning applications, to drive innovation within the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership: Oversee the development and optimization of scalable data pipelines and infrastructure.

Team Management: A high-performance culture in the data engineering team, emphasizing standards, automation and reusability.

Team Development: Create a safe, fail-fast environment that values technical innovation and skills development within the data engineering team to embrace new and emerging technologies.

Architecture: Translate complex business requirements into the design of robust ELT pipelines, data models, and operational processes. Establish tools and processes to ensure data quality and accuracy.

Technical Planning: Ensure ISA's data engineering team can deliver on multiple concurrent, fast-paced project timelines. Partner with ISA leaders and PMs to size & prioritize data engineering workstreams, identify technical risks and resource gaps, and increase team velocity. Breakdown work into clear, actionable technical tasks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Create a strong developer culture, both within data engineering and across ISA tech teams. Coach and mentor more junior team members, work across teams to reduce siloing and identify opportunities to make all teams more effective.

Project Delivery: Contribute as a senior data engineer to projects on an as-needed basis, modeling standards and best practices. Delegate and mentor other team members to maximize overall team output.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or related fields; advanced degrees are a plus. Experience: 10+ years in data engineering or related technical leadership roles, preferably in media and entertainment or related industries. Technical Acumen: Proficiency in data engineering, analytics tools, and methodologies.

  • Expert-level SQL & Python skills.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud warehouse design, configuration, and management (Snowflake preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with modern orchestration tools like Airflow.
