About the role We're looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager for the Radar Protect team. You're a player-coach who can build (write code + review PRs) and manage. This role is in our NYC HQ. Radar Protect is a core product in the Radar platform. Our customers use it for fraud detection and compliance use cases critical to their organizations. We are an essential part of their operations: they cannot operate their business without our product. The tech stacks of Radar Protect include mobile SDKs, frontend dashboards, server-side APIs, and data services. How we work: Most of our engineering team are former technical co-founders or former Radar interns from schools like Waterloo and CMU. Most engineers at Radar fit one of two molds, technically: either Staff level expertise in one stack, or "Multi-Stack" at any level. We say "Multi-Stack" because "Full-Stack" has the connotation of "Frontend and Backend", but Radar Engineers might also work on Mobile or Data engineering. Not that you need to be an expert in all of those, but a desire to learn, jump around to different stacks, and get things done is the important part. We care a lot about shipping fast and talking to customers. We're committed to our product vision of full-stack location infrastructure, but we also know that customer feedback is a treasure map to gold. Even though Slack is the brain of our company, working together in-person in our NYC HQ is the fastest way for us to get things done. We meet on Mondays to plan out work for the week in small groups and use Linear for planning. All projects are run by an Engineering lead, an executive and a Go-to-Market lead. Engineers figure out what to build, talk to customers, talk to prospects, help close them, get them live and make them successful. The web dashboard is a React app. The API layer is a Node.js TypeScript app. Our main backend service is a geospatial database written in Rust that we call HorizonDB . We use MongoDB, S3/Athena, Redis, and Airflow. Everything is deployed to AWS via Kubernetes on EKS using Terraform. Most engineers are in the on-call rotation. From new-user funnels to onboarding optimizations, our Growth team is all about experimentation, rapid iteration, and driving sustainable business impact. Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on design, implement and deliver growth features

  • Work closely with Product Managers to analysis the product requirements and then produce the technique solutions & execution plan to deliver the software products

  • Analyze and validate the technique design for the software functions from the team

  • Review code from team members and ensure the standards

  • Engage with the Product Manager into building a backlog that continuously contributes to the execution of the roadmap

  • Contributing to the hiring, training and development of the engineers within the managed team

Who you are:

  • Strong Communicator: You effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding.

  • Analytical and Strategic: You leverage data to drive decisions, aligning engineering efforts with business objectives for optimal outcomes.

  • Proactive and Resourceful: You take initiative and skillfully navigate complex technical challenges to deliver impactful results.

  • Curious Learner: You're eager to explore new tools and technologies, including AI, to innovate and enhance your technical expertise.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with experience on growth or related technologies.

  • 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring a team of developers

  • Proficient with APIs, ETL processes, and data pipelines.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience solving GTM operations end-to-end

  • Knowledge of data warehousing, customer segmentation, and analytics tools

  • Familiarity with building internal or customer-facing products with AI & LLMs
