Students will also assist in developing documents and presentations using tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other software. Additionally, there may be the opportunity to assist with fieldwork for our construction management activities to give a full project lifecycle experience. Employment Type Temporary Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled and taking courses toward a Bachelors or Master's in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Communicate development project status with program management and other leaders. Continuously review industry best practices for electrical design. Review, update, create, and document Brooks' processes accordingly. Generate embedded systems hardware for use in the development of flow and pressure control devices. Work with Marketing and project teams to define detailed Electrical Hardware requirements to meet customers' needs. Orchestrate cross functional reviews of firmware requirements and related code implementation. Govern embedded firmware documentation to promote future product sustaining efforts. Perform analog circuit design including power supply design (switching and linear), voltage and current I/O circuitry, as well as circuits with discrete semiconductors. Oversee the design and simulation of digital circuits using microprocessors and associated peripheral devices in embedded systems. Use CAD tools for schematic capture and simulation to achieve circuit design goals. Support printed circuit board (PCB) layouts, working within 2D and 3D spatial constraints. Lead design work, preliminary testing, and coordination for agency approvals (CE, UL, RoHS). Manage product level design verification and validation testing with the reliability engineering group. Manage resource loading of Electrical Engineering and Testing teams in order to meet project deliverables and ensure that engineering hours are being accurately tracked. Manage R&D expenses of Electrical Engineering and Testing teams and provide input on budget and capital planning. Participate in the research and analysis of data such as design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application while adhering to project timing. Identify, with support from marketing and other engineering management, promising areas of research or technology that address current needs and have larger potential markets. Develop and/or interpret product specifications, and complex drawings or schematics. Utilize originality, ingenuity, and creativity to manage complex and large scope project assignments. Continuously improve existing product designs to improve performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability. Lead the electrical hardware functional group as the electrical engineering subject matter expert. Mentor and assist electrical engineers in the engineering principals and procedures for product design, development, fabrication, and testing. Manage the development tools and licenses, templates, and process for the electrical hardware functional group. Participate in interviews and new-hire training. Maintain and enhance Company safety policies and procedures. Support Company continuous improvement initiatives. Education and Experience BS degree in Electrical Engineering required; MS in Electrical Engineering preferred. 7 -10 years of experience required in analog/digital electrical design. Prior leadership experience strongly preferred. Expertise with use of circuit design and development tools (Altium Designer, OrCAD, SPICE) required. Expertise with use of electronic lab equipment (e.g. power supplies, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, function generators, network analyzers) required. Familiarity with industry standard communication protocols (EtherCAT, RS485, DeviceNet) preferred. Excellent communicator who exhibits strong, verbal, written, and presentation skills. Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook required. CDM Smith is looking for an Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineering Intern or Co-Op to join our team! You'll be working with a dynamic team of industry leading engineers on a diverse portfolio of municipal, federal, and industrial projects. Students with an Environmental or Civil Engineering background will work with a diverse network of senior engineers to peer interns, and across multi-discipline project teams. As a CDM Smith Intern or Co-Op, you will work to research engineering solutions to support analyses, reporting, and design on projects. Students will also assist in developing documents and presentations using tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other software. Additionally, there may be the opportunity to assist with fieldwork for our construction management activities to give a full project lifecycle experience.
