Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of 37 employees across seven regional sites in the United States and Mexico. This role is responsible for overseeing engineering operations, driving team performance, and ensuring alignment with strategic goals across multiple locations. The successful candidate will manage site teams located in Illinois (Peoria area, Decatur, Aurora), Milwaukee, Tucson, and Mexico. Regular local travel in mid-west region for day trips as needed. Additionally, quarterly travel as needed to Tucson, AZ and Mexico will be required to support regional initiatives and team engagement. This position requires strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to manage complex engineering projects across diverse teams and geographies. What You Will Do: Role also represents the Global DCR COE team during interactions with Product Groups on Site and provides support in following areas: Budget and Resource Planning Coordinating with overseas global engineering support for 75% of Caterpillar's product portfolio Deliver leadership for a cross-regional engineering services team, driving excellence in performance data analysis, engineering quality metrics, GD&T mentorship, global training programs, and standards compliance. Provide subject matter expertise across Caterpillar Engineering Standards, Specifications, and ePLM applications, ensuring effective change management and operational support. Representing engineering services on strategic cross-functional initiatives in ePLM and manufacturing groups, advising on new product development and engineering systems. Provide leadership to deliver high-quality, manufacturable and serviceable CAD output through rigorous detail checking and release protocols. Oversee a $5M+ budget, managing client relationships and service expectations to ensure efficient, high-value engineering solutions. Lead innovation efforts within the DCR Global COE, developing advanced tools and services including Power Apps, Power BI dashboards, and AI-driven enhancements to elevate engineering client experience. Education requirement: Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum or combination of degree and/or applicable knowledge. What skills you will have: Project Management: Lead cross-functional engineering DCR projects from concept through execution, ensuring alignment with business goals, timelines, and budgets with demonstrated NPI program management of several projects through all NPI gateway elements. Apply structured project management methodologies with knowledge in planning, risk mitigation, and multiple stakeholder communications to diverse teams. Monitor project performance ensuring timely delivery and continuous improvement with escalation where necessary. Coordinate resource allocation and manage competing priorities across multiple initiatives. Technical Excellence: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering innovation and high-quality solutions with deep component or system development with production product support capability. Ensure adherence to engineering standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements across all project phases Promote a culture of technical rigor, continuous learning, and collaboration to drive product and process excellence Understanding and use of productivity tools, root cause analysis, and problem-solving results using structured methodologies (e.g., 8D, DMAIC) Managing People: Leads and develops engineering teams using tools like Workday for performance management and LinkedIn Learning for skill development with demonstrated coaching and mentoring knowledge of junior team members. Uses Microsoft Teams and Outlook to coordinate meetings, share updates, and maintain team communication. Tracks team goals and progress with individual one on ones, team meetings, and project dashboard summaries. Promotes collaboration and feedback using platforms like Office 365, Workday, and Feedback Surveys. Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge in GD&T, Detailing, Checking, Releasing, NPI, product design, and risk mitigation utilizing engineering tools like FMEA, DVP&R, issues tracking, etc. Aligns engineering deliverables with business goals utilizing NPI tool best practices for Time, Cost, Quality. Additional Information: This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week at the Mossville, IL or Decatur, IL office. Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position. Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of 37 employees across seven regional sites in the United States and Mexico. This role is responsible for overseeing engineering operations, driving team performance, and ensuring alignment with strategic goals across multiple locations.

The successful candidate will manage site teams located in Illinois (Peoria area, Decatur, Aurora), Milwaukee, Tucson, and Mexico. Regular local travel in mid-west region for day trips as needed. Additionally, quarterly travel as needed to Tucson, AZ and Mexico will be required to support regional initiatives and team engagement.

This position requires strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to manage complex engineering projects across diverse teams and geographies.

What You Will Do:

Role also represents the Global DCR COE team during interactions with Product Groups on Site and provides support in following areas:

  • Budget and Resource Planning
  • Coordinating with overseas global engineering support for 75% of Caterpillar's product portfolio
  • Deliver leadership for a cross-regional engineering services team, driving excellence in performance data analysis, engineering quality metrics, GD&T mentorship, global training programs, and standards compliance.
  • Provide subject matter expertise across Caterpillar Engineering Standards, Specifications, and ePLM applications, ensuring effective change management and operational support.
  • Representing engineering services on strategic cross-functional initiatives in ePLM and manufacturing groups, advising on new product development and engineering systems.
  • Provide leadership to deliver high-quality, manufacturable and serviceable CAD output through rigorous detail checking and release protocols.
  • Oversee a $5M+ budget, managing client relationships and service expectations to ensure efficient, high-value engineering solutions.
  • Lead innovation efforts within the DCR Global COE, developing advanced tools and services including Power Apps, Power BI dashboards, and AI-driven enhancements to elevate engineering client experience.

Education requirement:

  • Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum or combination of degree and/or applicable knowledge.

Project Management:

  • Lead cross-functional engineering DCR projects from concept through execution, ensuring alignment with business goals, timelines, and budgets with demonstrated NPI program management of several projects through all NPI gateway elements.
  • Apply structured project management methodologies with knowledge in planning, risk mitigation, and multiple stakeholder communications to diverse teams.
  • Monitor project performance ensuring timely delivery and continuous improvement with escalation where necessary.
  • Coordinate resource allocation and manage competing priorities across multiple initiatives.

Technical Excellence:

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering innovation and high-quality solutions with deep component or system development with production product support capability.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements across all project phases
  • Promote a culture of technical rigor, continuous learning, and collaboration to drive product and process excellence
  • Understanding and use of productivity tools, root cause analysis, and problem-solving results using structured methodologies (e.g., 8D, DMAIC)

Managing People:

  • Leads and develops engineering teams using tools like Workday for performance management and LinkedIn Learning for skill development with demonstrated coaching and mentoring knowledge of junior team members.
  • Uses Microsoft Teams and Outlook to coordinate meetings, share updates, and maintain team communication.
  • Tracks team goals and progress with individual one on ones, team meetings, and project dashboard summaries.
  • Promotes collaboration and feedback using platforms like Office 365, Workday, and Feedback Surveys.

Planning: Tactical, Strategic:

  • Knowledge in GD&T, Detailing, Checking, Releasing, NPI, product design, and risk mitigation utilizing engineering tools like FMEA, DVP&R, issues tracking, etc.
  • Aligns engineering deliverables with business goals utilizing NPI tool best practices for Time, Cost, Quality.
