STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Hydraulics Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside experienced water resources and transportation professionals, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects. This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office. Preference will be given to candidates who can participate for at least three months and work full-time. In this role, you will support senior and junior engineers on a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater management. Projects may include roadway drainage systems, culverts, stormwater management facilities, erosion and sediment control, and green infrastructure solutions. Candidates should have a strong interest in hydraulics, water resources, and transportation infrastructure design. Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation of hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for transportation and infrastructure projects under the supervision of senior staff. Support the development of stormwater management reports, drainage studies, and technical memoranda. Assist with storm drain, culvert, and erosion and sediment control design tasks. Utilize hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (such as HEC-RAS, StormCAD, or similar tools) as appropriate to assigned tasks. Assist in the preparation of drawings using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD. Format reports, calculations, and specifications to support project documentation. Support project file management, including organization of electronic documents, printing, and scanning as needed. Gain exposure to permitting processes, including NPDES and local or state stormwater requirements. Utilize company-wide and department-specific software to complete assigned tasks. Gain practical experience and broad exposure to STV's organizational structure through diverse assignments and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Required: Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related discipline at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent. Coursework or demonstrated interest in hydraulics, hydrology, stormwater management, or water resources engineering. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. The projects will be of three types: Capital, Expense, and Development. You will work under the guidance of engineers. You will report to the Lead Engineer and be located at our Ogden facility. Job Description

STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Hydraulics Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside experienced water resources and transportation professionals, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects. This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office. Preference will be given to candidates who can participate for at least three months and work full-time.

In this role, you will support senior and junior engineers on a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater management. Projects may include roadway drainage systems, culverts, stormwater management facilities, erosion and sediment control, and green infrastructure solutions. Candidates should have a strong interest in hydraulics, water resources, and transportation infrastructure design.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for transportation and infrastructure projects under the supervision of senior staff.

  • Support the development of stormwater management reports, drainage studies, and technical memoranda.

  • Assist with storm drain, culvert, and erosion and sediment control design tasks.

  • Utilize hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (such as HEC-RAS, StormCAD, or similar tools) as appropriate to assigned tasks.

  • Assist in the preparation of drawings using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD.

  • Format reports, calculations, and specifications to support project documentation.

  • Support project file management, including organization of electronic documents, printing, and scanning as needed.

  • Gain exposure to permitting processes, including NPDES and local or state stormwater requirements.

  • Utilize company-wide and department-specific software to complete assigned tasks.

  • Gain practical experience and broad exposure to STV's organizational structure through diverse assignments and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Required:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related discipline at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent.

  • Coursework or demonstrated interest in hydraulics, hydrology, stormwater management, or water resources engineering.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.

Compensation Range:

$38,927.00 - $51,903.00
