About the Role The Product Engineering team is seeking a seasoned engineering leader. This team is responsible for transforming Nuro's autonomous vehicle technology into a tangible product and experience through collaborations with mobility providers and OEMs. The core responsibilities include vehicle dispatch, trip management, routing engines and fleet/operational toolings. About the Work Define and execute the technical vision and roadmap for the Product Engineering team. Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 15-20 engineers (including managers and senior individual contributors), fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration. Drive the end-to-end ride-hailing experience. Drive the development of both onboard and offboard routing engines. Partner closely with mobility providers and OEMs on system and data integration. About the Role

The Product Engineering team is seeking a seasoned engineering leader. This team is responsible for transforming Nuro's autonomous vehicle technology into a tangible product and experience through collaborations with mobility providers and OEMs. The core responsibilities include vehicle dispatch, trip management, routing engines and fleet/operational toolings.

About the Work

  • Define and execute the technical vision and roadmap for the Product Engineering team.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 15-20 engineers (including managers and senior individual contributors), fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
  • Drive the end-to-end ride-hailing experience.
  • Drive the development of both onboard and offboard routing engines.
  • Partner closely with mobility providers and OEMs on system and data integration.
  • Lead innovation for operational and fleet tooling, catering to both R&D and commercial needs.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or 5+ years of equivalent industry experience) with 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering leadership roles managing teams of 10+ engineers
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, with hands-on experience building and scaling real-time cloud services and applications.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and growing high-performing engineering teams, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and inspire technical talent.
  • Strong business sense, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a bias for action and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the capacity to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environments.

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $213,480/year and $319,720/year for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
