Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, headquartered in Dallas, is a regulated electricity transmission and distribution business that uses superior asset management skills to provide reliable electricity delivery to consumers. Oncor (together with its subsidiaries) operates the largest transmission and distribution system in Texas, delivering power to nearly 4 million homes and businesses and operating more than 143,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas.
Summary
An Engineering Analyst of Transmission Engineering Services at Oncor plans, develops, installs, tests, trouble shoots, monitors, and maintains all Transmission Engineering computer systems to ensure the quickest solution to general hardware and software issues. This position acts as critical first response to all Transmission Engineering software and hardware issues for the purpose of resolving issues as quickly and efficiently as possible. Develop and maintain close working relationship with Oncor Information Technology (IT). Order and set up all new hardware. The incumbent also supports the Transmission Engineering Services Department objectives of meeting the needs of a diverse clientele group. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication, reporting, analysis and troubleshooting skills.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly or through others, the incumbent:
- Work with Information Technology (IT), Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Manager, and ProjectWise (PW) Admin to create/update computer software images for all Transmission Engineering new computers.
- Interfaces effectively with various individuals throughout Transmission, Asset Management, Technology and contractor organizations, problem solving and strategy development.
- Working closely with IT on general issues for all Transmission Engineering computers.
- Requesting access and ensuring IT Security grants the access to all contractors, new and existing Engineering employees to all Transmission Engineering applications.
- Working closely with IT digital workspace platform groups to test transmission engineering software applications for distribution to end users via digital workspace platforms.
- Order new or replacement hardware for all of Transmission Engineering (computers, monitors, etc.).
- Maintain asset serial numbers and interphase with IT to dispose of outdated/out of warranty computers.
- Assist users in problem solving, hardware configurations and users defined software environment preferences for all supported work stations.
- Set up and configure all Transmission Engineering new computers with Windows user profile.
- Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge of applications.
- Upgrade and load various applications as needed.
- Responsible for setting up and supporting access to SharePoint for file sharing for external consultants and internal users.
- Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
Skills
- Possess excellent application support management skills.
- Excellent oral communication and effective writing skills.
- Must be adaptive and comfortable with rapidly changing objectives
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve Microsoft Office applications, print/plot server, computer, and software issues.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Applicants with a Technical Associate Science Degree are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants with industry certifications in operation systems, hardware, and software are encouraged to apply.
For the Engineering Analyst role:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience or applicable relevant education and experience is required.
For the Engineering Analst Sr role:
- At least 7 years of relevant experience or applicable relevant education and experience is required.
