This adjunct faculty position provides project oversight to student teams in a real-world application of open-ended technical problem-solving situated in the social context. Key distinguishing features for ideal candidates: You bring patience and enthusiasm to introduce and reassure students on their first experience with intentional ambiguity and messy real-world problems. You teach and inspire Freshman and Sophomore students to solve complex, open-ended problems using critical thinking and workplace skills. Students work in multidisciplinary teams in classes of 25 to learn through doing, with emphasis on defining and diagnosing the problem through a holistic lens of technology, people, and environment. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES As an Adjunct Faculty, you will be responsible for: Achieving course learning outcomes through instruction and team management. Holding meetings with your teams, and responding to emails and grading all deliverables in a timely fashion (clickable LMS-based rubrics that tally, parse, and aggregate grades are provided to assist with grading). Serving as a course "manager" by providing guidance to project teams in a highly interactive environment. Attending all meetings and class sessions, including kickoff, end-of-semester, and short weekly meetings with the instructional team. Additional responsibilities Project classes are held twice per week, either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, for 75 minutes, between 7:30am to 7:45pm. Hands-on Skills Labs are held once per week for 110 minutes Tuesdays through Fridays. An additional office hour held weekly in-person or remotely is expected per section taught. Established course materials (including lectures, assignments, rubrics, and general structure) are developed and continuously iterated by the program and provided for faculty, though additional sharing of professional experiences and methods by faculty is encouraged without excluding existing curriculum and learning outcomes and activities. Timely and regular feedback and grading is expected for student deliverables, typically within two weeks of submission. All program faculty are supported via weekly one-hour meetings covering the previous and subsequent weeks' curriculum and learning activities. Meeting attendance is not required but is especially expected for new faculty, and is encouraged for all faculty. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Hold an undergraduate degree in a scientific, engineering, or engineering-related discipline. Have professional experience in engineering design or engineering project work (6+ years), or a graduate-level degree in engineering or related technical field, with some level of professional design experience (4+ years) Preferred Qualifications Education and Experience: Undergraduate degree in engineering, or a closely related STEM discipline Certifications and Licenses: Candidates with an active PE license and/or with demonstrated STEM or project-based teaching experience at the undergraduate level may be given preference. What you'll do As a Flight Test Engineering Lead you will partner with the Ghost engineering to and be responsible for test planning, execution, reporting, and evaluating the system under test (software and/or hardware). Test duties include: Supporting daily flight test operations and campaigns at multiple test locations. Candidate will support and plan test events in support of the product roadmap and production schedule. Manage and oversee a sound configuration management plan and of test assets in preparation for multiple test campaigns. Manage an inventory plan to keep all assets fully mission capable and ready for test. Coach and mentor team to prepare for test readiness reviews, safety review boards, and operational test readiness. Create and disseminate test reports that create awareness for all stakeholders on system status in varying test campaigns and/or initiatives. Generate and oversee the execution of test cards, pre- and post-flight briefings, and manage test events with a broad support team (pilots, engineering subject matter experts, etc.). Collaborate with SMEs and cross functional teams within the business line through development and production testing, reporting of test findings, and test status. This includes adjudication of testing tasks and characterization of issues, observations, and detailing results. Interface daily with hardware and software engineering teams. Collect metrics and report on metrics that highlight product performance, progression, and maturity. Required Qualifications Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related technical discipline from an accredited institution. Master's degree in a relevant field is a plus. Leadership: Experience coaching and mentoring a team to prepare for test readiness reviews, safety review boards, and operational test readiness. Aviation Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in flight testing, flight test planning, or aviation systems development.
