Visit job sites to observe construction and submit field reports to Project Managers as needed. Assist in reviewing shop drawings and submittals. Other duties as assigned. In this internship position, you will be responsible for assisting Engineers and Project Managers on design and restoration projects. You will work with the local design team of Architects and Engineers and report to the local Director of Design.

$22 - $25 an hour

Responsibilities

  • Learn how all the project elements form a completed project.
  • Take an active role in project document preparation, including drawings and reports.
  • Assist with the design of conventional elements of projects including: ACI load combinations, shear, and moment diagrams, calculating column loads considering load path, foundation design (spread footings, piles, and pile caps, drilled piers), retaining wall design (cantilever and basement type), concrete member design (slabs, beams, columns), calculation organization and documentation.
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Participate in on-site condition assessment teams of existing facilities to determine the causes and solutions of deterioration or confirm as-built conditions.
  • Collect data pertinent to the project design, including surveys, codes, soils, and other required information.
  • Visit job sites to observe construction and submit field reports to Project Managers as needed.
  • Assist in reviewing shop drawings and submittals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
