An Electrical Engineer performs and oversees the design, testing, implementation, and troubleshooting of electric power distribution and protection systems. The digital power metering and protection relays the Electrical Engineers support, monitor the status of the power system and running motors. They use that information to interrupt power, or to alert someone to act, depending on the severity of the situation. Electrical Engineers work as part of a project team to design changes to electrical wiring and make improvements to the power distribution system based on the needs of various groups throughout the business (Operations, Engineering, Compliance, Safety, Measurement, Cybersecurity, and more). These improvements can increase reliability, allow for easier operation of the pipeline, increase response time to abnormal conditions, and increase safety of certain processes/pieces of equipment. Electrical Engineers generate documents throughout the project using standard templates for future reference and adherence to company standards and National Electric Codes. Electrical Engineers also perform critical testing and project commissioning support associated with a large pipeline system with 24/7/365 operations. What an Electrical Engineering Co-Op might learn and do: Become familiar with pipeline systems, including layout, components, and operational procedures. Work with an Electrical Engineering mentor on how to use industry-standard software tools used for electric power distribution and protection systems. Shadow experienced engineers to observe real-world operations and problem-solving techniques. Learn how to interpret and review one-line power drawings, electrical schematics/wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and P&IDs. Participate in a site walkdown at a pipeline facility to gather initial project info for electrical power changes. Perform basic troubleshooting exercises on simulated motor protection scenarios under supervision. Assist in executing a small-scale power system project/change/enhancement under the guidance of a mentor. Gain hands-on experience with power system design, arc flash hazard analysis, relay coordination studies and motor protection programming. Build a replica of a production motor protection system in a lab environment to test changes by simulating real-world operations. Collaborate with other engineers to analyze existing power systems issues. Conduct thorough testing to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the developed system. Become familiar with electrical design documentation practices, including design specifications, implementation details, and testing results. Participate in a project commissioning at a pipeline facility to implement the planned power system changes under the guidance of a mentor. Finalize and present an end-of-term summary to supervisors and stakeholders. Receive and give feedback to/from mentors and supervisors on co-op experience and areas for improvement. What You Bring to the Table: Majoring in Electrical, Controls, Computer or other relevant Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university. Coursework or project experience related to electrical power systems, circuit design, and electromagnetics. Ability to learn technical concepts across multiple disciplines and apply understanding to improve processes and solve problems. Technical aptitude with a hands-on mindset. Ability to organize tasks and prioritize workload. Strong attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Software proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Power Point. Flexibility to travel on occasion. Have a good attitude about being part of a diversified, multi-cultural team environment. The A&E Leader provides strategic vision, leadership, and technical oversight, ensuring the quality and effectiveness of all technical approaches, products, and processes. This role directly supervises the Avionics Leader, Electrical Engineering Leader, Software Leader, and EWIS Leader, fostering collaboration and alignment across all engineering disciplines. Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, the Director of Avionics & Electrical Engineering leads a team of engineers and technicians responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of avionics and electrical systems at Cirrus Aircraft. This includes providing ongoing engineering support for all aspects of aircraft avionics and electrical in compliance with FAA Part 23 regulations. The Director delivers strategic leadership, technical oversight, and approval of engineering approaches, products, and processes to ensure quality, innovation, and regulatory adherence This position will deploy A&E Engineering Standard work on a broad basis using industry standards. Technical areas of responsibility include: Manages the Company's R&D direction to ensure continued industry leadership in creating new customer value through avionics and system integration. Develops and executes integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures while guiding the development of business and technical strategies, goals, and objectives. Provides oversight and input to the development of A&E system designs. Analysis and interpretation of requirements/technical specifications of aircraft equipment, software, components and systems and ensuring their successful integration onto aircraft. Specification of A&E systems interfaces compatible with the installation requirements. Definition of equipment, components, systems and installations specified to enable system testing, fault finding prior to installation and certification. Oversight of system architecture and system safety assessment to meet design requirements. Acquires resources for test activities, provides technical management oversight and leads process improvements. Provide feedback for mechanical requirements aspects of A&E designs. Development and certification plan and report writing and reviewing. Develops strong working relationships with all organizational stakeholders, peers, and direct reports. Manages, develops and motivates employees. The Director of A&E Engineering is responsible for developing, coaching, and mentoring of less experienced engineers and supervisors, resource allocation, staffing, and performance reviews, including creating and executing onboarding training plans. This individual supports the Engineering Department with budget planning and control, resource/project planning, and maintaining awareness of key deliverables and project milestones. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of fostering individual engagement and initiative, driving improvements to engineering process, and implementing design methodologies resulting in superior technical design and enhanced team productivity. Experience in the use of design tools and CAD software is preferred Experience with Integrated Flight Decks Garmin G3000 Flight Deck is preferred IFR private or commercial rated pilot is preferred. What is an Electrical Engineer?

An Electrical Engineer performs and oversees the design, testing, implementation, and troubleshooting of electric power distribution and protection systems. The digital power metering and protection relays the Electrical Engineers support, monitor the status of the power system and running motors. They use that information to interrupt power, or to alert someone to act, depending on the severity of the situation. Electrical Engineers work as part of a project team to design changes to electrical wiring and make improvements to the power distribution system based on the needs of various groups throughout the business (Operations, Engineering, Compliance, Safety, Measurement, Cybersecurity, and more). These improvements can increase reliability, allow for easier operation of the pipeline, increase response time to abnormal conditions, and increase safety of certain processes/pieces of equipment. Electrical Engineers generate documents throughout the project using standard templates for future reference and adherence to company standards and National Electric Codes. Electrical Engineers also perform critical testing and project commissioning support associated with a large pipeline system with 24/7/365 operations.

What an Electrical Engineering Co-Op might learn and do:

  • Become familiar with pipeline systems, including layout, components, and operational procedures.
  • Work with an Electrical Engineering mentor on how to use industry-standard software tools used for electric power distribution and protection systems.
  • Shadow experienced engineers to observe real-world operations and problem-solving techniques.
  • Learn how to interpret and review one-line power drawings, electrical schematics/wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Participate in a site walkdown at a pipeline facility to gather initial project info for electrical power changes.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting exercises on simulated motor protection scenarios under supervision.
  • Assist in executing a small-scale power system project/change/enhancement under the guidance of a mentor.
  • Gain hands-on experience with power system design, arc flash hazard analysis, relay coordination studies and motor protection programming.
  • Build a replica of a production motor protection system in a lab environment to test changes by simulating real-world operations.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to analyze existing power systems issues.
  • Conduct thorough testing to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the developed system.
  • Become familiar with electrical design documentation practices, including design specifications, implementation details, and testing results.
  • Participate in a project commissioning at a pipeline facility to implement the planned power system changes under the guidance of a mentor.
  • Finalize and present an end-of-term summary to supervisors and stakeholders.
  • Receive and give feedback to/from mentors and supervisors on co-op experience and areas for improvement.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Majoring in Electrical, Controls, Computer or other relevant Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Coursework or project experience related to electrical power systems, circuit design, and electromagnetics.
  • Ability to learn technical concepts across multiple disciplines and apply understanding to improve processes and solve problems.
