Reporting to the Director of Engineering, as the Engineering Project Leader- Transportation and Warehouse (T&W) you'll provide Engineering support in the Transportation and Warehouse space. Subject Matter Expert Material Handling Equipment Develop and drive fleet strategies to optimize asset effectiveness and useful life while reducing maintenance costs Manage fleet of roughly 2500 pieces of rolling stock across our network Evaluate the latest fork truck, battery, and charging technologies and understand their application in our network Evaluate emerging material handling technologies and how to use material handling automation to reduce reliance on manual labor such as: AGVs, AMRs, AS/RS, conveyor systems, etc. Evaluate various material handling equipment - lease verses buy Develop warehouse equipment specifications to support state-of-the-art warehousing concepts and procedures Conduct fleet utilization studies and right-size fleets as necessary. Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, as the Engineering Project Leader- Transportation and Warehouse (T&W) you'll provide Engineering support in the Transportation and Warehouse space. You'll develop and lead capital projects at distribution centers and manufacturing plant warehouses. You'll also develop and execute a warehouse Material Handling Equipment (MHE) strategy to maximize asset effectiveness while keeping capital spend and R&M costs within budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand business drivers and be able understand the impact of capital investment on corporate strategies
  • Manually gather data from enterprise systems and distill data into insights
  • Based on insights, develop alternative solutions to eliminate process inefficiencies and execute capital projects for warehouse function
  • Work in collaboration with the manager to develop capital plans and manage the capital spend on assigned projects
  • Manage capital projects to meet budget, timeline and performance metrics
  • Oversee contactors to ensure projects are implemented safely
  • Develop relationships to guide accountability and value with strategic suppliers, on-site operations teams, and finance teams.

Subject Matter Expert Material Handling Equipment

  • Develop and drive fleet strategies to optimize asset effectiveness and useful life while reducing maintenance costs
  • Manage fleet of roughly 2500 pieces of rolling stock across our network
  • Evaluate the latest fork truck, battery, and charging technologies and understand their application in our network
  • Evaluate emerging material handling technologies and how to use material handling automation to reduce reliance on manual labor such as: AGVs, AMRs, AS/RS, conveyor systems, etc.
  • Evaluate various material handling equipment - lease verses buy
  • Develop warehouse equipment specifications to support state-of-the-art warehousing concepts and procedures
  • Conduct fleet utilization studies and right-size fleets as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management

  • 5 + years previous Industrial Engineering or logistics/distribution engineering experience

  • Experience with warehouse equipment maintenance (MHE, dock equipment, etc.) and warehouse material handling processes and operating practices and budgets

  • Experience in Project Management of projects up to $2MM

  • Experience with project development in warehouse infrastructure or warehouse cost reduction

  • Financial acumen and experience developing project cost justifications

  • Experience in inventory management, warehouse, or distribution, operations or other supply chain related function that interfaces engineering with distribution operations.

  • Comfortable making presentations and communicate findings to senior level management.

  • Experience driving programs and influence without direct reporting relationships
