The Avionics Engineering Lead will oversee the development, test, and delivery of electronic hardware and FPGA firmware for E-Space satellites. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Electrical Engineering management experience and 10+ years of Electrical Engineering development and test experience in aerospace. This position will report to the Director of Electrical Engineering and will manage many of the Electrical and FPGA engineers on the Avionics team. The successful candidate will be based in our Saratoga, CA office. What you’ll be doing: The functions of this role include providing strategic direction and implementation in the following areas: Lead the day-to-day execution of engineering work by 8+ Electrical and FPGA engineers to shepherd the team through development, test, and delivery of their products. Plan and track engineering tasks, communicate up status of team products. Ensure that the Avionics department standards and best practices are employed by the team to quickly deliver high quality products that meet their requirements. Help refine standards and practices based on lessons learned. Provide tools and resources needed by the team to perform their work. Participate in supporting technical tasks including design reviews, troubleshooting, and surge engineering effort when needed. Help teammates develop their skills and careers in alignment with their interests and the company’s. Perform performance evaluations for reporting teammates as well as regular one-on-ones. What you bring to this role: 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering management experience of teams of 6+. 10+ years of experience in new electronics product development, test, and flight in aerospace applications. Expertise in power, digital, and analog circuit design, simulation, and analysis, and testing. Expertise in high reliability electronics and FPGA development and test practices. Bonus points for the following: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. Experience with antenna design and wireless RF links. Experience designing for space environments including radiation impacts and mitigation. Familiarity with Altium Designer FPGA design skills. C/C++ or Python skills This is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office. The target base pay for this position is $150,000 - $220,000 annually. The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. The Avionics Engineering Lead will oversee the development, test, and delivery of electronic hardware and
FPGA firmware for E-Space satellites. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Electrical Engineering management
experience and 10+ years of Electrical Engineering development and test experience in aerospace.

This position will report to the Director of Electrical Engineering and will manage many of the Electrical and
FPGA engineers on the Avionics team. The successful candidate will be based in our Saratoga, CA office.

What you’ll be doing:

  • The functions of this role include providing strategic direction and implementation in the following areas:
  • Lead the day-to-day execution of engineering work by 8+ Electrical and FPGA engineers to shepherd the team through development, test, and delivery of their products.
  • Plan and track engineering tasks, communicate up status of team products.
  • Ensure that the Avionics department standards and best practices are employed by the team to quickly deliver high quality products that meet their requirements. Help refine standards and practices based on lessons learned.
  • Provide tools and resources needed by the team to perform their work.
  • Participate in supporting technical tasks including design reviews, troubleshooting, and surge engineering effort when needed.
  • Help teammates develop their skills and careers in alignment with their interests and the company’s.
  • Perform performance evaluations for reporting teammates as well as regular one-on-ones.

What you bring to this role:

  • 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering management experience of teams of 6+.
  • 10+ years of experience in new electronics product development, test, and flight in aerospace applications.
  • Expertise in power, digital, and analog circuit design, simulation, and analysis, and testing.
  • Expertise in high reliability electronics and FPGA development and test practices.

Bonus points for the following:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience with antenna design and wireless RF links.
  • Experience designing for space environments including radiation impacts and mitigation.
  • Familiarity with Altium Designer
  • FPGA design skills.
  • C/C++ or Python skills

This is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office.  The target base pay for this position is $150,000 - $220,000 annually.  The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. 
 
We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that’s your experience – then we’ll be immediately wow-ed.
