By streamlining the complex, automating the routine, and surfacing the insights that matter most, we can create the conditions for educators to teach, students to thrive, and districts to shape the future of education. DevOps Engineering Manager Overview We are seeking a highly technical, results-oriented DevOps Engineering Manager to lead and evolve our cloud platform operations at scale. This is not a maintenance role — it’s a leadership position for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, optimizing infrastructure for performance and cost, and leading teams through challenges to deliver measurable progress. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Azure cloud, microservice architectures, and DevOps automation at scale, paired with strong people leadership and the ability to make fast, high-quality decisions. This role requires someone who can get into the technical trenches when needed, hold the team accountable to high standards, and drive innovation in automation, reliability, and developer experience. Technical Leadership & Direction Provide strong technical direction across all DevOps initiatives — from infrastructure design to pipeline automation. Partner with the Architecture team to evolve our Azure-based microservices infrastructure to support billions of monthly requests. Maintain deep situational awareness of the platform — knowing what’s running, what’s breaking, and what’s improving. Team Ownership & Development Lead three critical DevOps pods of 2-3 engineers each: SRE / Platform Sustainability CI/CD Innovation & Automation Developer Experience & Internal AI Tooling Develop and mentor technical leads and engineers, ensuring each pod has a clear mission, measurable goals, and high accountability. Fiscal & Operational Responsibility Own and manage the Azure budget, ensuring cloud spend aligns with business priorities and remains within target. Design and enforce cost-efficiency practices in architecture, scaling, and automation. Implement proactive cloud spend monitoring and reporting to maintain fiscal visibility and control. Execution & Delivery Deliver automation, pipelines, and infrastructure improvements with velocity — measured in hours or days, not weeks. Drive progress through ambiguity and technical constraints; never accept “blocked” as the final answer. Push for measurable outcomes: faster deployments, lower downtime, improved cost-to-performance ratios. Ensure that platform reliability, observability, and performance continuously evolve with scale. Innovation & AI-Driven Operations Champion the integration of AI and automation in CI/CD, monitoring, and developer workflows. Partner with internal AI initiatives to improve system intelligence, predictive monitoring, and developer productivity. Stay ahead of emerging DevOps trends to ensure Incident IQ remains at the forefront of modern operations practices. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 7+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years managing high-performing DevOps or SRE teams. Deep technical expertise in Azure, Kubernetes, microservice architectures, and distributed systems. Proven success operating and scaling high-traffic SaaS systems (billions of monthly requests). Mastery of CI/CD systems (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, etc.) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or equivalent). Strong background in observability and performance monitoring (Datadog, Grafana, Azure Monitor). Demonstrated ability to lead teams through complex challenges and deliver under pressure. History of budget ownership and driving cloud cost optimization initiatives. Exceptional communication skills — able to align engineers, executives, and cross-functional stakeholders. VP Software Engineering

Foundational IndustriesEl Segundo, California
Company Overview Foundational is building a network of AI-native, autonomous factories for modern contract manufacturing. We’re reshoring critical supply chains so companies can produce high‑quality products domestically, quickly, and at competitive cost. Foundational exists to make reindustrialization practical. Our factories are autonomy-first, reconfigurable by design, and orchestrated by a unified, AI-native factory operating layer that connects design through production. Transformative Opportunity Recent breakthroughs in robotics and physical AI have shifted autonomous manufacturing from a theoretical promise to a deployable capability, triggering a global race to operationalize these systems at scale. The challenge is no longer whether autonomy works, but who can integrate AI-native robotics into real production environments. The ability to manufacture advanced products domestically is now central to U.S. economic competitiveness and national security. Foundational is focused on deploying these capabilities at scale during a decisive decade for American industrial leadership. Who We Are Foundational was built by executive leadership from Google’s physical AI platform and America’s two largest contract manufacturers. Manufacturing critical products requires trust. The Foundational team has deployed AI systems at multi-billion-dollar scale and delivered thousands of products across hundreds of manufacturing facilities. Role Overview We are hiring a VP Engineering to lead the design, integration, and deployment of Foundational’s AI-driven robotics and automation systems. This role owns the end-to-end engineering effort required to bring our manufacturing facilities online, unifying robotics, controls, perception, and software into reliable, production-ready systems. This role requires executive technical leadership and deep hands-on engagement. You will set engineering strategy and architecture while personally driving execution during critical build, integration, and deployment phases. Working closely with manufacturing operations, product, and additional partners, you will ensure engineering systems meet real-world requirements for throughput, safety, reliability, and scalability. Key Responsibilities Own engineering strategy and execution for AI-driven manufacturing systems, spanning robotics, controls, perception, automation, and software infrastructure. Lead integration of autonomous mobile robots, autonomous workcells, sensors, and perception systems into a unified orchestration layer capable of coordinating heterogeneous systems in production. Architect and deliver core orchestration services, control layers, and system interfaces required to operate complex autonomous workflows reliably at scale. Build, lead, and scale a high-caliber engineering organization, establishing strong technical standards, fast execution cycles, and accountability across disciplines. Partner closely with manufacturing operations and product leadership to translate production constraints into technical specifications that reflect real throughput, maintenance, and safety constraints. Drive pragmatic build-vs-buy-vs-partner decisions grounded in timeline, risk, and operational reality. Establish simulation, testing, and validation workflows to de-risk deployments and enable rapid, repeatable rollout of autonomous systems across future facilities. Remain hands-on during critical phases, including system design reviews, integration debugging, and on-floor issue resolution. What You’ll Bring 10+ years of experience leading complex engineering efforts across robotics, automation, controls, and software systems, including senior leadership responsibility. Proven track record integrating heterogeneous autonomous systems (AMRs, workcells, sensors, perception) into production-grade environments. Strong systems-level judgment and experience making high-stakes architectural and execution decisions in operational settings. Demonstrated ability to build and lead cross-disciplinary engineering organizations while maintaining technical credibility and hands-on engagement. Deep understanding of manufacturing realities, including throughput, uptime, safety, maintenance, and operator workflows. Experience delivering zero-to-one systems on aggressive timelines, particularly in factory or industrial environments. Clear, direct communicator able to align engineers, operators, executives, and external partners around technical decisions. Bias toward execution and speed, balanced with the discipline required to build systems that scale reliably. Builder mindset and comfort operating in ambiguity, with ownership for outcomes rather than narrow functional boundaries. Why Join Foundational Foundational is built for people who want their work to matter. The ability to manufacture critical products domestically is central to U.S. economic strength and national security, and we are focused on turning that imperative into execution at scale. We operate with a strong bias toward delivery. Progress is measured by what runs in production, what holds up under pressure, and what improves over time. Ownership, judgment, and follow-through define our culture. Foundational brings together the most experienced leadership team in autonomous manufacturing — operators who have run the largest contract manufacturing platforms in the United States, alongside engineers who have built and deployed large-scale systems at Google. This combination positions us as the clear leader in this category, with both the credibility and capability to set the standard for autonomous production. We reward exceptional outcomes exceptionally. Compensation and equity are structured to reflect responsibility, impact, and results, with meaningful upside for those who help build and scale the business. For those aligned with the mission and motivated by execution at scale, Foundational offers the opportunity to help define one of the most consequential industrial transformations of the next decade.

Head of Controls Engineering

Role Overview We are hiring a Head of Controls Engineering to own the design, development, and deployment of controls systems across Foundational’s manufacturing platforms. This role is responsible for defining how machines, robotics, and automation systems are controlled, integrated, and operated in production environments, and for ensuring those systems scale reliably across facilities. This role requires both technical leadership and hands-on execution. You will set the controls architecture and standards while personally engaging in system design, integration, and debugging. Working closely with software, manufacturing engineering, and operations, you will ensure controls systems support real-time operations, safety, reliability, and long-term adaptability as our factories evolve. Key Responsibilities Define and lead controls engineering across Foundational’s manufacturing systems, establishing architectures, standards, and best practices for scalable deployment. Design and integrate controls solutions spanning PLCs, robotics, motion systems, vision, and industrial automation equipment in production environments. Own real-time machine control and data interfaces that connect equipment to higher-level software systems for monitoring, coordination, and closed-loop operation. Lead development of commissioning, testing, and validation workflows to support rapid deployment and reliable operation of complex automation systems. Establish and enforce safety, redundancy, and fault-tolerance standards across all control systems and production lines. Partner closely with software, manufacturing engineering, and operations teams to ensure controls designs support production readiness, uptime, and long-term scalability. Build and lead a controls engineering team, providing technical direction, mentorship, and hands-on support as systems scale. Engage with equipment vendors, system integrators, and partners to evaluate, deploy, and standardize control solutions across facilities. What You’ll Bring 8+ years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, or mechatronics, with ownership of complex production systems and technical leadership responsibilities. Deep expertise in industrial controls and automation, including PLC programming, robotics integration, motion control, and SCADA/HMI systems. Strong software fluency, with experience working in real-time systems and using modern scripting or systems languages (e.g., Python, C++) alongside industrial control platforms. Proven ability to integrate controls systems with higher-level software platforms, enabling coordination with manufacturing execution, analytics, or orchestration layers. Hands-on experience designing for safety, redundancy, and fault tolerance in high-reliability manufacturing environments, including relevant regulatory and compliance considerations. Experience with commissioning, testing, and deployment of complex automation systems, including the use of simulation or virtual commissioning tools. Deep alignment with Foundational’s mission to reindustrialize the United States, motivated by long-term impact, ownership, and building enduring platforms.
