Cabin Products Engineering Manager Company: The Boeing Company This is a new role within our Commercial Modifications Team based in Long Beach, California, working with the global cabin products teams (Bangalore - India, Hamburg – Germany, and Seattle, Washington) THE ROLE: Boeing Global Services has an exciting opportunity for a Cabin Products Engineering Manager in Long Beach, CA. The Cabin Products Team develops, designs, and qualifies new products for use in Boeing Global Services (BGS) and Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) projects. In this position, the manager will be leading a team of engineers that provides oversight, guidance, and leadership to multiple new product development projects being completed by the global cabin products teams. They will work closely with multiple other engineering teams and other functions such as Business Development, Program Management, and Supply Chain. This is an opportunity to lead the development of brand-new electromechanical products from initial conceptual design through full product introduction and support. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the development of electromechanical cabin products. Works directly with global team members and managers to provide oversight and ensure completion of development tasks. Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals. Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees. Close coordination and teaming with other internal and external Engineering teams. Knowledge of Boeing's organizations, processes, program plans, policies and procedures, and products required to effectively perform functional responsibilities of the occupation. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. Experience supporting both internal and external customers Experience training and/or mentoring in a technical environment 5+ years of experience with the development and/or qualification of electromechanical aircraft cabin components 1+ years of experience leading an engineering team Experience leading teams across multiple geographic locations Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time both domestically and internationally Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience: Experience developing and qualifying new aircraft cabin products. Recent experience completing qualification of components to DO-160 environmental requirements. Experience developing and testing to component reliability requirements. Extensive experience in the design, analysis, and qualification of electromechanical aircraft cabin products. This experience could be in the electrical, mechanical, or software aspects of the products. Prior development of a new product from initial concept through product introduction and support, including installation on a major Boeing aircraft model. Experience with multiple certification paths such as amended type certification service bulletin (SB), Supplemental Type Certificate (STC), or Boeing D6/Buyer Furnished Equipment processes. Boeing Global Services has an exciting opportunity for a Cabin Products Engineering Manager in Long Beach, CA.  The Cabin Products Team develops, designs, and qualifies new products for use in Boeing Global Services (BGS) and Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) projects.  In this position, the manager will be leading a team of engineers that provides oversight, guidance, and leadership to multiple new product development projects being completed by the global cabin products teams.  They will work closely with multiple other engineering teams and other functions such as Business Development, Program Management, and Supply Chain.  This is an opportunity to lead the development of brand-new electromechanical products from initial conceptual design through full product introduction and support.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the development of electromechanical cabin products.

  • Works directly with global team members and managers to provide oversight and ensure completion of development tasks.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees.
  • Close coordination and teaming with other internal and external Engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of Boeing's organizations, processes, program plans, policies and procedures, and products required to effectively perform functional responsibilities of the occupation.

  • Managing projects being executed by a global team across multiple time zones.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • Experience supporting both internal and external customers
  • Experience training and/or mentoring in a technical environment
  • 5+ years of experience with the development and/or qualification of electromechanical aircraft cabin components
  • 1+ years of experience leading an engineering team
  • Experience leading teams across multiple geographic locations
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time both domestically and internationally
     

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Experience developing and qualifying new aircraft cabin products.
  • Recent experience completing qualification of components to DO-160 environmental requirements.
  • Experience developing and testing to component reliability requirements.
  • Extensive experience in the design, analysis, and qualification of electromechanical aircraft cabin products.  This experience could be in the electrical, mechanical, or software aspects of the products.
  • Prior development of a new product from initial concept through product introduction and support, including installation on a major Boeing aircraft model.
  • Experience with multiple certification paths such as amended type certification service bulletin (SB), Supplemental Type Certificate (STC), or Boeing D6/Buyer Furnished Equipment processes.
