Fall 2025 Engineering Intern-logo
PrimerSan Francisco, California
About Primer Fixing our K-12 education system is a civilizationally-important problem. We believe that all of our problems — including the ones that dominate the headlines — are downstream of education. We have a simple thesis on how to solve it: empower 1,000's of educators to launch microschools in their communities. We believe the historical tradeoff between price (tuition) and quality is a false dichotomy. PrimerOS automates and eliminates much of the costs of traditional schools. Microschools have a structural advantage — asset-light real estate — which means much lower capex and opex. You put it together, and you get something that's never existed before: a world-class education that's accessible to normal American families and can rapidly scale. The software we build powers our Microschools end-to-end. From day one, it helps teachers source real estate, recruit students, and provide an (actually) personalized education to every student. It offers rich insights to parents, enables virtual teachers to deliver exceptional experiences, and runs our back-office operations stack. We have a huge surface area to cover and a lot of hard work ahead of us. We’re looking for exceptional interns to join us this Fall and play a key role in building Primer. About the Role: Tech stack : Work with TypeScript, NodeJS, GraphQL, Prisma, Postgres, NextJS, React, and Relay. Collaborative environment : Collaborate with team members across engineering, product, design, and academic programs. In-office : Full-time, in-office internship based in our light-filled Mission district office in San Francisco. Hands-on projects : Tackle meaningful projects with direct impact. You’ll work on features used daily by teachers, students, and families, solving real-world problems in education. Mentorship & learning : Grow your skills with support and mentorship from a small, high-performing team. Engineering culture : Contribute to a culture of excellence and collaboration through code reviews and high standards for quality. About you: Passion for education : You’re energized by the opportunity to help redesign the school experience and fix the US education system. Thrives in the unknown : You love figuring things out and rolling up your sleeves to solve ambiguous problems. Strong fundamentals : You have a solid foundation in engineering principles and can apply them effectively. Craftsmanship : You care deeply about the details and take pride in building exceptional software. Competitive salary and benefits package, with J-1 and F-1 visa sponsorship available.
