Provide technical recommendation and support to maintenance department. Investigate problems, and lead in facilitating recommendations for improvements to ensure highest level of all quality throughout product offering and services provided. Evaluate workloads within department to ensure appropriate facilitation of job task and work load in order to optimize departmental efficiency Provides support to the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans for the site. Monitors and analyzes emerging engineering issues as they relate to the manufacturing process and leads the completion of engineering projects related projects/initiatives which are identified to be corporate priorities. Provides direction and oversight to project engineering and engineering development activities; and, takes a leadership role in capital and maintenance programs to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. Ensures the development and implementation of medium to long term engineering plans for the site to maximize uptime and efficiency. Provides leadership to the team and fosters an environment which motivates the team to fully use its capabilities in achieving desired business results. Establishes and clearly defines responsibility for staff on the team and ensures the ongoing management and support of staff and effective employee performance. Develops departmental budgets, prioritizes spending, and advises senior management on cost over-runs and extraordinary equipment requisitions. Accountable for effective usage of capital funds and providing leadership in the preparation of capital job requests and their completion within established specifications. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Thorough working knowledge of engineering policies, processes and procedures. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, strong people person in order to develop and work with stakeholders at all levels inside the business and external customers Maintains an open minded perspective during problem solving exercise Manage the implementation and evaluation of manufacturing processes, emphasizing those which provide cost savings or improve production methods using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Proficient with MS Office Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts. Solid decision-making skills. Minimum Requirements B.S. degree in Engineering Strong experience in engineering and project management of capital projects Expertise in industry including project management and operational management Solid understanding of forecasting and budgeting process. Formlabs is building the future of desktop fabrication. As an Engineering Technician, you will work across all our engineering functions, and get your hands on every part of the development process from the first idea to the final machine. You will be responsible for prototyping, building, and testing systems that will go into future generations of our 3D printers.

If you are passionate about building hardware through interdisciplinary hands-on work, we want you to join us as a Engineering Technician.

This position will have on-site expectations of 5x/week in our Somerville, MA HQ office.

The Job:

  • Build and modify prototypes of next generations 3D printers and accessory equipment
  • Fabricate / machine high quality mechanical parts in rapid fashion
  • Perform Board level rework on PCB assemblies.
  • Create or modify custom electrical cabling
  • Inspect parts via CMM, calipers, micrometers, multimeters
  • Set up and perform engineering tests
  • Create and present various reports

You:

  • Technical expertise to troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical equipment
  • Hands-on DYIer eager to work on state of the art printers
  • "Can do" take charge attitude
  • Fabrication and hand soldering experience
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical, electrical, and electronic schematic drawings and diagrams
  • Ability to interpret technical issues from non-technical explanation
  • Ability to work independently without any supervision
