Job Description General Responsibilities: Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel). Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor's representative and others as applicable regarding the construction site, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection requirements and results. Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles and work areas. May assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians to project sites. Adhere to strict safety standards. Essential Roles and Responsibilities: Under close supervision of higher level technicians or staff professionals, assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observations duties. Provides clear documentation of findings and results. Communicates information to Project Manager and discusses accuracy of data in preparation for submittal. Submits documentation and communicates results as directed by the Project Manager Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments. Maintains assigned equipment. Drive a vehicle such as a Ford F-150 or equivalent. Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management. Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent 6 months experience required. Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history. Preferred Certification: Obtain Nuclear Density Gauge certification within 6 months of hire. Required Certification: Obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire. You will partner with product, design and business peers, as well as the broader Nextdoor's engineering organization. The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $221,000 - $284,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. We expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With quarterly vesting, your first vest date will take place within 3 months of your start date. About the role:

As a Piping Engineering intern, you will report to the Piping and Supports Senior Manager and be located at our Rock Hill facility. This is a paid full-time hybrid position for the summer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with experienced piping & pipe support engineers to provide engineering design and analysis for Generation II, III+, and IV nuclear power plants including plant modifications for operating plants and new plant design projects

  • Perform pipe stress analysis following the applicable Codes and Standards for both nuclear and non-nuclear systems.

  • This includes thermal design for hot and cold piping, seismic analysis, hydrodynamic load evaluation, and pressure design

  • Prepare pipe support designs including selection of engineered pipe support components and perform stress analyses following the applicable Codes and Standards

  • Work with partners on new designs and plant modifications

  • Plan and schedule work to meet assignment requirements

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Completed Sophomore year of college
  • No relocation assistance provided
