Senior Engineering Manager-logo
Savvy WealthNew York, New York
About Savvy : Wealth management is a $545 billion industry in the US, yet remains archaic and inefficient with low technology penetration. 75% of financial advisors don’t offer digital communication beyond email, and 62% still build financial plans manually in Excel. This leads to a poor client experience and results in financial advisors spending over 70% of their time on non-client facing, manual work. Savvy is changing that. We’re building the most advisor-centric platform in wealth management: a digital-first solution that modernizes human financial advice. Advisors who partner with Savvy tap into AI-powered software, automated sales and marketing, and seamless back office workflows to scale faster and spend more time with clients. We’ve raised over $105M to date from Thrive Capital, Index Ventures, Canvas Ventures, Mark Casady (former LPL Financial CEO), and other top-tier investors. Our team is made up of repeat founders and operators who’ve helped build Airbnb, Square, Brex, Carta, Facebook, $200B+ RIAs, and more. Savvy is at a pivotal point in its growth trajectory, having established strong product-market fit in providing a modern platform to financial advisors. We’ve surpassed $2.2 billion in AUM in less than three years, grown 600%+ in the last 18 months, and are entering the next phase of the company which involves rapid expansion of our product offering and continued revenue growth. Come help us scale! The Role : We’re looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to join our growing team. You’ll play a critical role in building, delivering, and scaling Savvy’s product. This is a hands-on management position: you’ll lead a team of passionate product-focused engineers while also diving into projects, collaborating closely with product, design, and go-to-market teams. You’ll learn how our business works, what our financial advisors and valuable clients need from us, and connect your engineering team’s work directly to business impact. Responsibilities : Drive execution & delivery: own technical project management, ensure projects are well scoped, deadlines are met, and quality is high. Partner closely with our product and design teams to scope project feasibility and estimates. Be a force multiplier: unblock engineers, help them grow, and maintain a high-performing culture that’s accountable to impact and delivery. Lead & grow an engineering team (6+ direct reports), providing coaching, feedback, and career development, as well as managing performance, hiring, and when needed, making tough calls. Wear multiple hats: step into product leadership when needed, meet with customers and prospects, and collaborate cross-functionally with sales, operations, compliance, and leadership. Shape our engineering culture: help us scale from Series B to beyond, putting the right processes in place without heavy bureaucracy. Make sure your team feels empowered to deliver impact at high velocity. Must have : 3+ years as an engineering manager at a mid-size, scaling startup (typically Series A–C), managing both technical execution and people (performance, hiring, firing). Managed a team of at least 4-6+ engineers directly. Background of 3+ years as a fullstack or backend engineer so that you are strong enough to dive into technical details, guide system design decisions, and mentor your team. A delivery & execution-focused mindset, with clear awareness of your impact as an engineering leader. Passion for enabling teams while holding them accountable for execution. Experience on product-focused teams (shipping user-facing features) vs. solely infrastructure/platform teams. Excited to grow with Savvy from Series B to later stages. Nice to have : Experience leading hybrid teams (we are a mix of in-person + remote across NYC and LatAm time zones). Fintech or other compliance-heavy industry experience. Exposure to infrastructure, data, or related technical areas. Interest in being a future founder. Savvy can expose you to incredible detail on how scaling businesses grow, operate, and break. Additional Information : Savvy Wealth is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to fostering an inclusive work environment that values diversity and individual contributions. Benefits : Competitive salary and equity package Unlimited PTO + paid company holidays Access to best in class medical, dental, and vision plans Company 401(k), Commuter, and HSA/FSA plans NYC office in the heart of Manhattan Lunch, dinner, and snacks provided in the office Parental leave coverage (8 weeks) and support (Tilt) Access to virtual mental health care (Spring Health), vision related benefits (XP Health), and health concierge (Rightway) to help you find the right care Access to counseling for stress management, dependent care, nutrition, fitness, legal, and financial issues (Guardian WorkLifeMatters EAP)

The Opportunity

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead one of our core product engineering teams. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, requiring someone who can build high-performing teams while maintaining our focus on delivering exceptional user experiences. You’ll drive business-critical initiatives, grow a high-performing engineering team, and work cross-functionally to deliver outcomes that move the company forward.

You’ll play a key role in turning strategic goals into shipped product—combining technical leadership, strong execution, and product thinking to ensure we’re building the right things in the right way. This role is ideal for someone who leads with clarity, values ownership, and is energized by building alongside a kind, collaborative team.

If you're excited by product-focused engineering and leading a team where your impact is visible and valued—you’ll thrive at Sydecar.

This is not a pure people-management role, but a high-leverage leadership position that demands technical depth and strong product intuition.

What You’ll Drive

Product Outcomes and Technical Strategy

  • Own business-critical initiatives by partnering with product and design to define and deliver work that creates real user and business value

  • Translate company strategy into clear, actionable technical plans with measurable outcomes

  • Prioritize the highest-impact work and create focus within the team even when goals are evolving

  • Lead effectively in ambiguity by structuring complex problem spaces and creating alignment around what matters most

Technical Execution and Decision-Making

  • Guide architectural thinking and support strong technical decisions without becoming a bottleneck

  • Help the team balance delivery speed with technical sustainability

  • Set a high bar for quality by encouraging craftsmanship, operational rigor, and scalable thinking

Team Leadership and Growth

  • Build a high-trust, high-performing engineering team focused on ownership, urgency, and product impact

  • Invest in the development of engineers and future leaders by creating growth opportunities that align with team goals

  • Act as a force for clarity and alignment across engineering, product, and cross-functional partners

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of engineering management experience in fast-moving, product-led environments

  • 5 or more years of hands-on software engineering experience, with the ability to support technical design and strategy

  • A track record of leading teams that have shipped meaningful, high-impact product work

Qualities That Matter

  • Product fluency. You understand how software is built end-to-end and how technical work connects to user outcomes and business goals

  • Systems thinking. You consider how engineering decisions influence architecture, execution, team health, and customer experience

  • Clarity creator. You help teams move forward in uncertainty by breaking down complexity and communicating clearly

  • Builder’s mindset. You enjoy solving open-ended problems and thrive in dynamic, evolving environments
